Both the Antwerp and Ludwigshafen production sites are impacted. A BASF spokesperson stated, "Structural damage was found in the fuming sulfuric acid production facility during routine maintenance." Production has currently been suspended, and repair work has begun. It is not clear when the plant will be able to resume production.
