FRP skylight tiles are widely used in China due to their advantages such as corrosion resistance, aging resistance, impact resistance, high light transmittance, aesthetic molding, low cost, energy-saving and environmental protection, aging and corrosion resistance, good light transmission, flame retardancy, lasting performance, and rich colors. FRP skylight tiles are composed of a high-performance top film, reinforced polyester, and fiberglass. The top film serves to provide excellent UV resistance and anti-static properties. UV resistance is essential to protect the polyester of the FRP skylight panel from yellowing and aging, which can lead to a loss of light transmission characteristics. The anti-static property ensures that dust on the surface can be easily washed away by rain or blown away by the wind, maintaining a clean and aesthetically pleasing surface. Installation and Usage 1. Before fixing the skylight tiles, pilot holes must be drilled, with the hole diameter being at least 50% larger than the diameter of the fixing screws to avoid internal stress cracking of the skylight tiles due to thermal expansion and contraction. 2. The skylight tiles are fixed using aluminum profile fasteners. The corrugated skylight tiles are connected and fixed using skylight tile brackets and self-tapping screws, and then sealed with adhesive. The position of the skylight tiles is generally set at the midpoint of the span. 3. When overlapping the skylight tiles with steel sheets in the longitudinal direction, there must be at least 200mm of overlap, with two water-stopping strips applied. 4. The connection between the skylight tiles and the self-tapping screws must have cover plates. Sunlight boards undergo significant thermal deformation and can easily be punctured by self-tapping screws, so larger holes should be drilled at the self-tapping screw locations. The thermal expansion of the skylight board should be considered during installation. 5. When fixing the skylight tiles, good water-resistant washers must be used between the screws and the skylight panels to prevent water and dust ingress. After inserting the washers into the screws, use an electric drill to secure them into the purlins, completing the fixation of the skylight panels. 6. Skylight tiles do not require overlapping if the length is within 12m; if it exceeds 12m, overlapping is necessary, with an overlap length of 200-400mm. Two coats of sealant should be applied at the overlapping joints. For horizontal overlaps, edge sealing is not required, while vertical overlaps with color steel plates depend on the panel type. Generally, regular profiled steel plates do not require edge sealing and can be directly fixed with self-tapping screws, with sealant applied. For interlocking panels, edge sealing is required. 7. During the construction of skylight tiles, it is strictly prohibited to step directly on the peaks to avoid cracking the skylight panels. A non-slip thick wooden board measuring 1200mm x 300mm (length x width) must be placed at the transverse position of the skylight panels to step on while drilling pilot holes and fixing screws.
