Recently, Chezhinet obtained a set of Suzuki Escudo test vehicles from relevant channels. According to the plan, the new model will be launched in India on September 3rd. It is a brand-new SUV product lineup for Suzuki in the Indian market, positioned below the current Grand Vitara, or likely positioned as a subcompact SUV.

Previous reports indicate that the Suzuki Escudo will draw inspiration from the current Grand Vitara's design style, with rear detail designs possibly taking cues from the all-new Vitara EV. According to the latest spy shots of the camouflaged test vehicle, the new car features a split front headlight setup and a through-type taillight at the rear—both popular design trends in the global automotive industry. Additionally, the new model will offer traditional external door handles, a roof rack, and a shark fin-style roof antenna.

In terms of powertrain, the Suzuki Escudo may be equipped with the same 1.5-liter engine and 1.5-liter hybrid system as the Grand Vitara. The 1.5-liter engine delivers a maximum power of 75.8 kW and a peak torque of 139 Nm, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 1.5-liter hybrid system offers a combined power output of 85 kW and is matched with an E-CVT electronic continuously variable transmission. In the Indian market, the potential competitors of the Suzuki Escudo include the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Toyota Hyryder. For more information about the new model, Car Quality Network will continue to follow up and report.
