Supply Chain Fully Transparent! Grasim Launches Sustainable and Traceable Cellulosic Filament Yarn

NTMT New Textile Materials 2025-08-21 15:44:58

Grasim Industries' cellulosic fashion yarn business has launched Raysileco, an innovative product under the trusted Raysil brand. It is made from sustainable viscose filament yarn (VFY) that can be fully traced back to its origin. Raysileco is produced from wood pulp that is responsibly sourced from certified, sustainably managed forests, holds strong environmental certifications, and ensures complete transparency throughout the supply chain.

Mr. Satyaki Ghosh, CEO of the Cellulose Fashion Yarn business, stated: "Raysileco embodies innovation with strong sustainability certifications and advanced traceability technology. It reflects our drive to evolve alongside the ever-changing market demands and to deliver value where performance, responsibility, and trust converge." He further added, "This product not only strengthens our commitment to sustainability and end-to-end traceability but also gives our value chain partners the confidence to verify and trust every filament they use."

Raysileco directly embeds molecular-level and technologically traceable substances into yarn, marking a significant advancement in yarn manufacturing. This innovation provides end-to-end visibility of the product journey, enhancing confidence, transparency, and seamless verification for value chain partners from yarn production to retail. A key advantage of Raysileco is its integration of both physical and digital traceability technologies, ensuring transparency at every stage. By meeting the fashion industry's growing demand for transparency, Raysileco enables brands and partners to authenticate products and verify responsible sourcing throughout the entire supply chain.

Raysileco is manufactured at Grasim's strategic plants located in Kalyan (Maharashtra) and Veraval (Gujarat), reflecting the company's ongoing investment in smart, scalable, and technology-driven manufacturing capabilities.

Mr. Ghosh explained, "The traceability mechanism employs physical markers and digital technology. Our collaboration with TextileGenesis enables the secure traceability of sustainable viscose filament on the blockchain. We use unique digital tokens called Fibercoins to track the journey of the yarn from source to store, creating a tamper-proof real-time digital record for brands to monitor."

As global regulations become increasingly stringent and sustainability goals become more ambitious, leading global fashion brands are turning to traceability tools to ensure transparency and accountability. At Raysileco, sustainability is integrated into every stage of the product lifecycle, from sourcing natural raw materials to implementing environmentally responsible production practices, ultimately delivering a sustainable yarn that safely returns to nature at the end of its lifecycle.

Raysil remains the only company in the world to offer three different technologies for viscose filament yarn: PSY (Package Spun Yarn), CSY (Continuous Spun Yarn), and SSY (Short Stop Spun Yarn). With the launch of Raysileco, Grasim's cellulose fashion yarn business has set a new benchmark for transparent and responsible manufacturing in the global fashion industry.
