Scania Launches High-Floor Battery Electric Platform to Create First Batch of Zero-Emission Buses
According to foreign media reports, Scania has launched its new high-floor pure electric bus and coach platform at the Busworld Europe exhibition, marking an important step towards electrification in the new market segment. The introduction of the all-new pure electric platform enables Scania to provide high-floor pure electric buses and coaches for the urban and travel segments.

Designed specifically for various bus tasks
The platform is applied to Scania's fully electric buses, with a range of up to 600 kilometers, and the luggage space is almost comparable to that of fuel-powered buses—this is a key factor in encouraging bus operators to switch to electric vehicles.
This makes the product suitable for medium-distance intercity transportation, airport shuttles, and team buses, etc.
Suitable for rural and urban operations.
In addition, the new platform can meet the needs of short-distance intercity operations or create school buses or tourist coaches with lower baggage space requirements. The high-floor pure electric platform is also specifically designed for urban applications, providing a scalable solution for zero-emission rapid transit systems in towns across regions such as Africa, Asia, and South America.
Flexibility of platform and charging solutions
The core technology of the platform, from the motor to the battery and charging interface, has been repeatedly validated and is compatible with various vehicle bodies. In terms of power, the motor output reaches as high as 330 kW, with a total installed capacity of 534 kWh (usable capacity of 480 kWh). The charging capacity is equally impressive, reaching up to 325 kW (500A).
The launch of the Scania high-floor battery electric platform comes at a time when the electrification of transport is rapidly expanding in Europe and other global markets, no longer limited to purely urban applications. At the same time, demand from bus operators for various charging solutions is also growing to meet different operational needs.
Scania plays a key role in driving this transformation with its comprehensive electrification service ecosystem. This ecosystem provides complete and customer-tailored charging solutions, such as smart charging, helping operators avoid peak energy costs and maintain battery performance. This means operators can enjoy predictable pricing, fully transparent costs, and convenient payment solutions. Additionally, the user-friendly Scania charging access service offers operators supplementary support by opening up an ever-growing network of public charging stations suitable for heavy commercial vehicles.
Carl-Johan Lööf, Scania's Head of Product Management for Bus and Coach Solutions, stated: "With the launch of the new high-floor all-electric platform, Scania not only introduces its first all-electric bus but also reinforces our position as a trusted partner in the transition towards sustainable transport. We believe that the various features offered by this new platform will address the concerns of bus and coach operators regarding combining zero-emission operations with the demands of urban and travel tasks, making it the ideal solution for the electrification of this rapidly growing passenger transport market."
