Record-breaking! China Unicom Completes 800G Transmission Verification Over 1400km in Live Network
March 21 news, according to the "China Unicom Research Institute" official account, recently,China Unicom successfully completed the verification of a single wavelength 800G transmission over a distance exceeding 1400km in the live network environment from Gui'an to Guangzhou to Shaoguan, setting a new record for 800G transmission distance in domestic live networks.
This verification result is another strong support provided by China Unicom's computing power intelligent network for the optimized allocation and coordinated development of computing resources, enabling data to achieve efficient and rapid circulation between different regions.
This 800G live network validation relies on China Unicom's abundant optical cable resources and key computing power hub nodes.Between Gui'an-Guangzhou-Shaoguan, ultra-long-haul transmission over 1400km without electrical regeneration was successfully achieved based on the industry-leading C+L optical layer system.
According to China Unicom, the validation not only tested the single-fiber transmission capacity but also verified key technologies such as 800G/400G mixed transmission, and the validation results fully met expectations.
single-fiber transmission capacityBased on the current C6T+L6T optical layer system, using a single-wave 800G electrical layer card with a 150GHz spectrum width for transmission, the system capacity has doubled, and the maximum capacity of a single fiber has reached 64T.
In terms of system transmission performance, under the current network pure EDFA system without Raman, using 800G PCS-16QAM modulation format, it successfully achieved a transmission distance of over 1400km with 26 spans, and verified the mixed transmission capability with existing 400G channels.
Vice President and Chief Scientist of China Unicom Research Institute, Tang Xiongyan, stated that in May last year, China Unicom completed the validation of 800G transmission over a distance of 690km in Zhejiang. This live network validation nearly doubled the transmission distance, marking another innovative practice by China Unicom in ultra-high-speed transmission network technology, with significant milestone implications.
