ProAmpac Advances Sustainable Moisture-Resistant Packaging, Balancing Environmental Impact and Product Protection
In the wave of the packaging industry actively moving towards sustainability, ProAmpac recently launched an innovative sustainable moisture-proof packaging. This new type of moisture-absorbing film not only provides an eco-friendly option that is foil-free and recyclable but also significantly enhances product protection, strongly advancing the progress of sustainability efforts.
Work together to innovate and integrate technology.
ProAmpac has partnered with Aptar CSP Technologies to successfully integrate the latter's 3-Phase Activ-Polymer technology into its packaging film structures. Building on this, ProAmpac has expanded its ProActive Intelligence platform, adding new products to its Moisture Protect series. According to ProAmpac, the company has introduced a range of moisture-absorbing films designed for various application scenarios, developed in collaboration with Aptar CSP Technologies. This new solution aims to significantly enhance product protection while aligning with sustainability goals.

Samuel Kessler, Senior Innovation Engineer for Active/Intelligent Packaging at ProAmpac, stated: "ProAmpac's Moisture Protect series represents a critical step forward in flexible packaging technology." For a long time, aluminum foil-based flexible packaging has been the industry benchmark in moisture protection, thanks to its exceptional barrier properties that effectively maintain product integrity. However, ProAmpac has keenly observed the growing market demand for more sustainable packaging options.
Multiple choices to meet diverse needs
To meet this market demand, ProAmpac's Moisture Protect series now includes both foil-based (MP - 1000 series) and foil-free (MP - 2000 and MP - 3000 series) options, allowing customers to flexibly choose the most suitable solution based on their specific moisture protection requirements and sustainability goals. Kessler added, "By expanding our product range, we provide customers with diverse options to balance high-performance moisture protection with sustainability goals."
It is reported that the MP-2000 series, as a foil-free option, offers moisture adsorption capacity and performance comparable to the MP-1000 series. The MP-3000 series, on the other hand, features a mono-polyolefin construction, specifically designed for recyclable applications, offering higher product stability compared to traditional foil-based structures. Each solution in the Moisture Protect series deeply integrates Aptar CSP Technologies' three-phase activated polymer technology into the film structure. ProAmpac points out that this integration achieves complete integrated moisture protection, eliminating the need for traditional desiccant packets. According to the company, this integration not only simplifies the packaging process, reduces inventory needs, and increases production efficiency but also extends the product shelf life, while fully meeting the expectations of consumers and regulatory bodies for sustainable packaging.
Winning honors, demonstrating industry leadership
During the Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) Annual Meeting held on March 7 at the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa in Aventura, Florida, ProAmpac was honored with the 2025 Flexible Packaging Achievement Award for its outstanding innovation in the packaging field. Its PRO-EVO Recyclable FL won the event's highest honor—the Highest Achievement Award—as well as the Gold Award for Packaging Excellence, the Gold Award for Technological Innovation, and the Silver Award for Sustainability. Additionally, the company's spray pouch for Ortho Home Defense and the RP-1000 packaging were also recognized.
Hesam Tabatabaei, Senior Vice President of Global Product Development and Innovation at ProAmpac, stated: "Winning these awards fully demonstrates our commitment to leveraging materials science to develop high-performance, sustainable packaging technologies that ensure product shelf life, durability, and production efficiency. We are deeply grateful for the recognition from FPA and will continue to dedicate ourselves to advancing sustainable solutions." Since 1956, the FPA has annually presented the Flexible Packaging Achievement Awards to honor outstanding packaging innovations that drive industry progress and technological advancement.
