Prilivan Expands RPC and PC Hybrid Product Portfolio for e&E Industry to EMEA
PolyOne Corporation has announced the addition of more grades to its portfolio of recycled content polycarbonate (PC) and PC blends. These products have been developed to meet the growing demand in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region for materials that support the sustainable development of the electrical and electronics (E&E) industry.
Contains up to 98% PCR content
PolyOne's expanded Edgetek™ recycled polycarbonate (REC PC) solutions were initially launched in Asia, offering the high performance of traditional polycarbonate (PC) while significantly reducing the carbon footprint as they incorporate a high post-consumer recycled (PCR) content.
Edgetek REC PC product line's EMEA expansion includes PC and PC blends with a PCR content ranging from 35% to 98%. This complements the previously launched grades with recycled content of 20% to 70%, all of which have mechanical properties comparable to virgin PC. These REACH and RoHS compliant solutions are now available in Europe for applications such as device housings, sockets, and other aesthetic or structural E&E components designed to withstand harsh environments.
“Sustainability is a key driver in the E&E field, and our latest REC PC solutions can help customers achieve their environmental goals without compromising performance.Hermann Fuechter, Senior Marketing and Product Manager of Specialty Engineering Materials EMEAI at Avient, said. With global sourcing capabilities and technical support, we enable customers to smoothly transition to more sustainable materials.。”
The Edgetek REC PC product portfolio includes unfilled and glass-filled grades of rPC, rPC/PBT, and rPC/ABS blends, with glass fiber content ranging from 10% to 30%. Due to the high-quality PCR source, these materials are available almost as pre-colored compounds or natural grades, which are colorable and recommended to be used with Avient’s OnColor™ PC grade color masterbatches. These materials can also be formulated to be compatible with existing tools and processes, thereby minimizing the need for requalification or new molds.
