The spot price of PET bottle-grade polyester chips in the East China region closed at 5900 today, down 20 from the previous working day, in line with the morning forecast.

In the morning, costs fluctuated with weak demand follow-up, leading to a decline in transactions. Around midday, driven by positive macroeconomic factors, costs rebounded. Polyester bottle chip factories raised their offers by 30-50 yuan, but downstream buyers and traders were cautious about chasing the price increase, mostly making rigid replenishments. Transactions were mainly stable compared to the morning. Offers for goods from August to October ranged from 5850 to 6000 yuan/ton; counter offers were between 5850 and 5940 yuan/ton, with transactions primarily for rigid replenishment. (Unit: yuan/ton)

In the morning, buying interest was dull and the price focus shifted downward. In the afternoon, influenced by news of phasing out outdated production capacity, the price quickly rose from the bottom. By the close of the afternoon session, the spot price had broken through the 4500 level, with negotiations around 4515. The spot basis was strong in the morning at about 09+92, but fell back to 09+88 in the afternoon. The South China market followed the strong trend, but downstream buying interest was limited, and transactions remained light.
