Nanshan Zhishang Signs Cooperation on UHMWPE Fiber Application for Humanoid Robots

On March 19, Nanshan Zhishang announced that the company has strategically signed agreements with Wuhan University Institute of Industrial Science (hereinafter referred to as "Wuhan University Institute") and Wuhan Shouzhi Innovation Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Shouzhi Innovation"), joining hands to form an innovation consortium, ushering in the prelude to industrial transformation. With two decades of deep cultivation in functional new materials, Nanshan Zhishang has built a core breakthrough for enterprise transformation and upgrading by creating an industrial synergy matrix in the fields of classic woolen clothing and advanced new materials.

According to the agreement, Wuhan University Institute is responsible for basic theoretical research, core algorithm development, humanoid robot design, and high-end talent cultivation. Relying on research teams from the Institute of Industrial Science, School of Microelectronics, and others, it provides technical support in areas such as motion control, intelligent sensing, and material optimization for humanoid robots.

Nanshan Zhishang then leads in the production and manufacturing of core materials in the robotics field, using the company's new material products to address the production and manufacturing of key transmission materials, robot skin materials, robot skeleton materials, and robot outerwear.

Nanshan Zhishang's 2024 annual report shows that as a hidden champion in the field of new textile materials in China, the company's R&D investment has remained above 50 million yuan for three consecutive years. The anti-creep ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber developed by the company effectively solves the relaxation problem of traditional UHMWPE fibers during long-term use, significantly improving product stability and durability, placing it in the top tier domestically and approaching the level of international leaders. Relevant personnel from Nanshan Zhishang stated that the company has built a 3,600-ton capacity intelligent production line for ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fibers, capable of supplying key materials such as transmission components and skin materials for humanoid robots in bulk.

As a key pillar of the company's strategic entry into the new materials field, Nanshan Zhishang's ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber achieved a revenue of 176 million yuan in 2024, accounting for 10.9% of total revenue, with a year-on-year growth rate of 94.75%. It is understood that Nanshan Zhishang can produce various specifications of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber products, which can be widely used in bulletproof, marine rope nets, protective equipment, home textiles, functional textiles, fishing lines, and robot dexterous hand transmission tendons. The signing of this strategic cooperation agreement by the three parties indicates that Nanshan Zhishang's ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber will achieve further breakthroughs in downstream robot application fields.
