Michigan Mold Manufacturer Davalor Mold Announces Shutdown Due to Financial Troubles

Plastmatch Global Digest 2025-08-20 14:09:22

Zhuansu Shijie has learned that Davalor Mold has announced the permanent closure of its business due to financial difficulties making continued operation impossible.

The injection mold manufacturer located in New Baltimore, Michigan, will lay off all 45 employees from October 3 to November 7, 2025.

The company primarily serves clients in the automotive industry and has submitted the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) to Michigan state officials this month, officially confirming the closure.

“Davalor Mold has closed due to a significant decrease in revenue caused by a downturn in business,” the company’s Human Resources Manager, Elizabeth McWilliams, stated in an official document. “The company is unable to sustain future operations.”

According to the WARN notice, the affected employees are not union members, and the company will not provide severance pay or job placement during the closure process.

The shutdown comes just one year after Davalor's parent company, Blackford Capital, acquired Industrial Molding Corp. (IMC), marking Davalor's first add-on acquisition. IMC was previously an independently operated subsidiary of NN Inc., a precision metal manufacturer headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, with operations worldwide. NN Inc. stated that it gained approximately $16 million in net cash proceeds from the transaction.

Last summer, when it was sold, IMC was NN Company's only plastic processing facility. This divestiture is part of NN Company's strategy to focus on core business areas.

Blackford Capital was founded in 2010 and is headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It focuses on acquiring and managing founder- and family-owned businesses in the lower middle market, with a particular emphasis on manufacturing, industrial, and distribution sectors.
