Liaoning Province: 120 million biodegradable plastic packaging bags to be used in 2024

In 2024, the Liaoning Provincial Postal Administration strengthened the research and deployment of plastic pollution control in the postal and express delivery industry, promoted the implementation of laws, standards, and policies, incorporated the green and low-carbon development of the industry into the key tasks of the year and the more people-oriented practical matters of the postal and express delivery industry, and further advanced the green transformation of express packaging.

One is to promote standardization. It requires delivery companies to use packaging products that meet national mandatory standards. By 2024, the proportion of e-commerce parcels in the province that are not secondarily packaged will reach 96.17%.

The second is to increase the proportion of recycling and reuse. In 2024, the use of recyclable packaging for same-city express delivery reached 39.47 million pieces, accounting for 9.57%; the number of corrugated boxes recovered and reused in good condition reached 46.47 million, an increase of 18.58% year-on-year. A total of 4,712 service points with packaging waste recycling facilities were set up across the province.

Fourth, strengthen harmless control.
