Integration of Plastic and Electronics Technology Empowers Smart Mobility: Multi-Dimensional Innovations of Scootech Scooter

Plastmatch Global Digest 2025-09-22 12:00:02

As part of the "European Mobility Week" activities, the Plastics Technology Research Center Aimplas (Spanish Plastics Technology Association) officially launched the innovative electric scooter Scootech. This product incorporates cutting-edge technologies.Plastic-electronic integration technologyThis is an emerging technology that focuses on the integration of electronic components with plastic materials.

This intelligent transportation device fully demonstrates the value of solutions based on plastic-electronic integration technology—not only enhancing safety, efficiency, and sustainability in the field of transportation, but also being widely applicable to various industries such as automotive, healthcare, and consumer electronics.

Scootech's core advantage lies in its integration of advanced technologies such as flexible electronics and capacitive sensors, which not only optimize user experience but also enhance the practical functions of the vehicle. Among its most striking innovations is an ultra-thin central control console: it directly integrates temperature, pressure, strain, and light sensors into the scooter's plastic components, achieving an "integrated design of materials as components."

Susana Otero, the lead researcher in the field of "Cities, Mobility, and Sustainable Energy" at the Spanish Plastics Technology Association (Aimplas), explained: "The program not only reduces the number of components and simplifies the assembly process but also enhances the recyclability of the product."

This scooter is equipped with multiple cutting-edge features: touch buttons to control power and lighting, a hybrid LED lighting system for efficient backlighting, and a touch slider to adjust the brightness of the front light. Altro added, "In addition, the device has a built-in NFC antenna for system activation, and the handlebars feature a heating function that integrates two innovative technologies - a heating film and a 3D printed resistor made from conductive materials developed by Aimplas." These two technologies not only offer excellent energy efficiency but also have customizable characteristics that can be applied to industries such as automotive, furniture, and packaging.

Security Innovation Driven by Intelligent Technology

This demonstration model is also equipped with a smart helmet, which has built-in capacitive sensors, while the scooter itself is equipped with pressure sensors to detect user weight. This dual design not only enhances safety during use but also optimizes the interaction experience between users and the vehicle. These innovative technologies can also be applied to wearable devices, medical instruments, or detection systems in industrial environments, opening up vast opportunities for the application of integrated plastic technology across multiple fields.

Although Scootech was launched as a demonstration product in the mobility sector, the related solutions developed by Aimplas are already applicable in various industries, including aerospace, home appliances, industrial textiles, construction, and consumer electronics. Otero summarized, "Through this demonstration vehicle, Aimplas showcases how integrated plastic-electronics technology can reshape products and production processes, providing tailored sustainable and efficient solutions for future demands."
