Huawei Leads Apple Again: The Latter's 18.8-Inch Foldable PC Faces Another Delay
August 5 news,Huawei's HarmonyOS foldable PC has been on sale for a long time, while Apple's is still in a difficult birth. From this perspective, Huawei is indeed far ahead of them now.
According to foreign media reports, investment bank analyst Jeff Pu has obtained information from the supply chain indicating that Apple’s 18.8-inch foldable device may be delayed, and it is unlikely to be seen before 2026. The reasons for the delay are still unclear.
According to previous reports, Apple's 18.8-inch foldable PC is expected to enter production in Q4 2026 and be released and launched in 2027.
The report also mentions that the foldable device Apple is developing will be a MacBook-iPad hybrid, equipped with a touchscreen and supporting macOS. It would not be an exaggeration to call it a PC. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has also referred to Apple’s larger foldable device as a MacBook.
However, analysts have also revealed that the development of the iPhone foldable phone is progressing smoothly and it will be released in 2026. Currently, the design of the phone is consistent with the recently launched Samsung foldable phone, but the biggest highlight of this device lies in its software performance.
As a comparison, on May 19th this year, Huawei released the HarmonyOS foldable computer MateBook Fold Extraordinary Master. It features an ultra-light and thin foldable design, unfolding into an 18-inch large screen and folding into a compact 13-inch size. When unfolded, it is as thin as 7.3mm and weighs only 1.16kg, combining a large screen with portability.
