Guna Technology Completes Strategic Financing, Focusing on Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene Materials
Recently, Graphene Technology, a high-performance nanofilm material R&D producer, has completed a new round of strategic financing. The investor in this round is HongNuo Venture Capital.
Grenus Technology was incubated by Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in 2022. Over the past three decades, HKUST has built substantial strength in multiple "deep tech" fields, including healthtech, AI, new materials, and fintech. Since its inception, it has incubated over 1,747 startups, nine unicorns, and 12 listed companies. According to the Nature Index's patent影响力排名, HKUST ranks first in China and 33rd globally.

As a leading project in the incubation pool of HKUST, Guna Technology is developing rapidly and steadily. The company owns core independent intellectual property rights. It has established a research and development system centered on ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UPE) material, forming a full-chain technical capability covering material synthesis, precision processing, and end-user applications. Its self-developed high-performance film has been successfully applied in consumer electronics, new energy, and medical supplies, with technical indicators reaching international advanced levels, and has passed product validation by multiple top customers.
The company is committed to becoming an internationally leading manufacturer of membrane materials, providing customers with better products and customized R&D services, and promoting the high-quality development of the membrane industry.

The application scenarios of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) membranes in medical fields can be combined with their material properties and existing application areas, as follows:
-
Artificial Joint and Implant Surface Coatings
UHMWPE film may serve as a sliding surface coating for artificial joints (such as hip and knee joints), utilizing its low friction coefficient and high wear resistance to reduce joint wear and extend the lifespan of implants. Its biocompatibility can minimize human rejection reactions, ensuring long-term stability.
-
Medical protective film
Based on the chemical corrosion resistance and anti-static properties of UHMWPE, it may be used to manufacture protective films for surgical instruments or equipment, such as protective layers for the surfaces of precision instruments like endoscopes, to prevent contamination and static interference. -
Medical packaging materials
Its high barrier properties and antimicrobial characteristics make it suitable for packaging films for pharmaceuticals or sterile medical devices, ensuring hygiene and safety during transportation and storage. -
Tissue Engineering and Repair Materials
UHMWPE membranes can potentially be applied in bone tissue engineering as support structures or barrier membranes, leveraging their high strength and chemical inertness to promote cell growth and tissue repair.
