According to customs statistics, in the first seven months of 2025, the total value of China’s goods imports and exports reached 25.7 trillion RMB, an increase of 3.5% year-on-year. Of this, exports amounted to 15.31 trillion RMB, up 7.3%, while imports totaled 10.39 trillion RMB, down 1.6%, with the decline narrowing by 1.1 percentage points compared to the first half of the year. Based on data on plastic machinery from China Customs’ online statistical platform for January to July 2025, this article compiles the import and export quantities and values of three main categories of plastic machinery (injection molding machines, blow molding machines, and extruders), as detailed below:

(Chart by: Plastics Machinery Network Data source: General Administration of Customs)

Import Situation

Injection Molding Machines: In July 2025, the import quantity was 544 units, with an import value of 324,058,887 RMB; from January to July, the cumulative import quantity was 3,545 units, with an import value of 2,135,311,530 RMB.

Blow molding machine: Import value in July 2025 was 36,584,392 yuan; cumulative import value from January to July was 332,674,973 yuan.

Extruders: The import value in July 2025 is 605,382,503 yuan; the cumulative import value from January to July is 3,238,444,005 yuan.

Export Situation

Injection Molding Machines: In July 2025, the export quantity was 4,743 units, with an export value of 1,406,777,668 yuan; from January to July, the cumulative export quantity was 32,382 units, with an export value of 9,934,119,291 yuan.

Blow Molding Machine: Export amount in July 2025 is 284,209,238 yuan; cumulative export amount from January to July is 1,895,630,843 yuan.

Extruders: Export value in July 2025 was 661,931,267 RMB; cumulative export value from January to July was 3,943,726,864 RMB.

China is the world's largest producer and exporter of plastic machinery. In 2024, export value is expected to exceed 6 billion USD, with a year-on-year growth of approximately 8%-10%, mainly benefiting from increased demand in emerging markets such as Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. Injection molding machines, extrusion machines, and blow molding machines remain the core export categories, accounting for over 70% of the total volume, among which high-end injection molding machines, such as all-electric and two-platen models, show significant export growth.

Future Trends

Market Opportunity

Demand in the new energy industry: there is great export potential for lithium battery separator production equipment (extruders).

Refurbished used equipment export: The African market has an increasing demand for cost-effective second-hand plastic machines.

Technical Direction

Intelligentization (AI quality inspection, digital twin) and low-carbonization (special machinery for biodegradable materials) have become key factors for differentiated competition.
