FAW-Volkswagen All-New Tang Boundary Vehicle Product Evaluation

This project mainly conducts on-site testing of 12 items including bodywork craftsmanship, paint film quality, indoor air quality, vibration and noise, parking radar, and lighting/visibility, to comprehensively and intuitively showcase the performance of new vehicles in terms of marketability through objective data.


In the vehicle body process testing phase, a total of 10 key areas of the vehicle are selected, and 3 key points are measured for each area to evaluate the uniformity of the gaps in these areas. From the test results, it can be seen that the gap mean value for most parts of the FAW-Volkswagen's all-new Tavendor is controlled within 4mm. However, the higher gap mean value at the connection between the rear fenders and the trunk on both sides has a certain impact on the final test results.

In the paint film thickness testing phase, the results show that the average paint film thickness of the FAW-Volkswagen all-new Horizon is approximately 104.2 μm, which is at a mid-to-low level compared to other tested models in the same segment. The static aspects include exterior, interior, space, and human-machine interaction, while the dynamic aspects encompass acceleration, braking, steering, chassis suspension, and safety. In the evaluation of external perception, FAW-Volkswagen's new Lamando adopts the latest design style, with the R-Line wind-driven sporty front featuring a large diamond grille and blackened coating to enhance the sporty feel of the vehicle. The rear design is more concise, with through-type taillights effectively stretching the visual width, highlighting a stable temperament. The braking system has been optimized for family users' needs for safety and handling. It features an initial buffer travel in the brake pedal, and a uniform release of braking force in the mid to late stages, avoiding the "nodding" phenomenon. This is especially suitable for congested urban road conditions, providing a more comfortable and composed driving experience.

The steering system inherits the precise tuning style typical of German cars, with a more compact steering ratio compared to SUVs of the same class, making it very agile in urban driving conditions. The steering assistance is relatively light at low speeds and automatically increases in strength at high speeds to enhance driving stability.

The chassis adopts a combination of front MacPherson independent suspension and rear multi-link independent suspension. The suspension thoroughly filters out fine vibrations and handles large bumps such as speed bumps cleanly and efficiently. When facing consecutive curves, the suspension provides sufficient support, and the body roll suppression outperforms other SUVs in the same class.
