Elon Musk: Tesla Will Not Produce 6-Seat Model Y L In The United States Before The End Of 2026
On August 20th, it was announced that Tesla China's brand new Model Y L model was launched yesterday, with an official starting price of 339,000 yuan and expected delivery in September 2025.
Today, in response to a question from a netizen, Musk stated that the 6-seat Tesla Model Y L version will not begin production in the United States until the end of 2026 at the earliest.
He also mentioned that, due to considerations related to FSD, this model may never be launched in the United States. However, he did not explain why FSD would affect this six-seater model.
According to IT Home, the Tesla Model Y L was officially launched yesterday. The new car features a six-seat layout, all-wheel drive, continuously variable damping shock absorbers, a range of 751 kilometers, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.
The Model Y L offers a six-seat layout, with ventilated front two-row seats and heated seats throughout the vehicle. The second and third-row seats can be independently electrically folded down, with a wheelbase of 3040mm and a storage space of up to 2539 liters. It is equipped with 18 Tesla self-developed advanced speakers and 1 subwoofer.
The starting price of the Model Y L is 339,000 RMB, but Tesla offers various financing options, including 3 years interest-free with a down payment starting at 99,900 RMB; and 5 years low-interest with a down payment starting at 45,900 RMB. Additionally, placing an order through referral by a Tesla owner or prospective owner grants an 8,000 RMB paint customization credit. There are three exclusive charging benefits available, with prices starting from 1,299 RMB.
