CATL, a major project with an investment of 32 billion RMB, has commenced.
According to local media reports from Luoyang, on March 21, the Phase III and IV projects of CATL's Luoyang base officially commenced in Yibin District, Luoyang City.
The data shows that the Luoyang base is one of the thirteen major production bases of CATL globally, built to the "lighthouse factory" standard, and is constructed by CATL's wholly-owned subsidiary, Zhongzhou Times New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Zhongzhou Times").
It is reported that the total investment in CATL's Luoyang base is 32 billion yuan, to be constructed in four phases. Among them, the first phase has already started production in December 2024, with products including the star product Kirin battery; the second phase will start production this June; the third and fourth phases, which have just commenced, have a total investment of 18 billion yuan, and are planned to be completed and put into use by the end of October 2026.
With the commencement of the third and fourth phase projects, it signifies that the CATL Luoyang base has been fully launched. However, CATL has not disclosed the total production capacity of the Luoyang base. Previous information only indicated that CATL plans to build a new energy battery base with an annual capacity of 120GWh in four phases in Yibin District, Luoyang, Henan.
In addition to the significant progress made at the Luoyang base, CATL has recently signed multiple project agreements.
In January, signed the "Ningde Era Luoyuan New Energy Base Project Investment Contract" with the Fuzhou Municipal Government, planning to invest in the construction of a battery base with an annual production capacity of 40GWh in Luoyuan.
In March, a strategic cooperation agreement was signed with the Dongying Municipal People's Government. According to the agreement, CATL will construct a 40GWh lithium battery green manufacturing base in Kenli District, Dongying City, following the "zero-carbon factory + lighthouse factory" standards for the first phase, and will carry out the second phase project at an appropriate time, aiming to create a fully green manufacturing cluster for the entire lithium battery industry chain.
On March 20th, the Sichuan Era 60MW/120MWh energy storage project was officially signed and launched in Yibin City. This is the largest commercial and industrial user-side energy storage project in Sichuan Province, jointly invested and constructed by Chuantou Energy and Gaoxin Development.
The data shows that Sichuan Times was established in October 2019, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CATL, with the project base located in the Sanjiang New Area of Yibin City, with a total of 10 phases planned, a total investment exceeding 50 billion yuan, and a total area of over 6,000 mu. As of February 2022, Sichuan Times has put 5 phases of the project into production, and all other phases are steadily advancing.
