BYD releases 2024 ESG report: Paid taxes of 51 billion yuan, higher than its net profit for the year.

The report shows that BYD, as a part of the private economy, takes technological innovation as its core.In 2024, BYD will elevate its ESG efforts to the strategic level of the group.

The company has established a strategic and sustainable development committee at the board level and appointed Vice President Zhao Jianping as Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO).ESG performance will also be included in the compensation assessment of executive directors and senior management, accounting for 10%.

In this report, BYD proposes the medium-term goal of reducing its overall operational carbon emission intensity by 50% by 2030, and pledges to achieve full value chain carbon neutrality by 2045.

In 2024, BYD's existing fleet of new energy vehicles accumulated over 150 billion kilometers of pure electric mileage, equivalent to planting 504 million trees. BYD added more than 410 energy-saving renovation projects throughout the year, achieving cumulative energy savings equivalent to reducing 210,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. The company invested approximately 1.41 billion yuan in waste disposal, ensuring 100% compliance with emission standards.

BYD's total tax contributions in China reached 51 billion yuan, with an average payment cycle to upstream suppliers of 127 days, better than that of major domestic listed automakers.

As a comparison,Byd's net profit in 2024 was 40.254 billion yuan, equivalent to its tax payments exceeding its net profit by 10.746 billion yuan.

At the same time, BYD actively fulfills its social responsibility by launching a 3 billion yuan educational charity fund, focusing on supporting scholarships for higher education and popularizing knowledge about new energy vehicle technology.

The company focuses on employee development and strengthens talent retention by cultivating 57,800 skilled personnel internally. The employee zero-yuan stock ownership plan amounts to over 1.8 billion yuan, covering nearly 12,000 people. In 2024, BYD was honored with several awards including "Best Employer in Asia" and "Most Loved Talent Employer."

At the research and development level, BYD increases its R&D investment.In 2024, the research and development investment reached 54.2 billion yuan, accounting for 6.97% of the operating revenue, with the R&D investment also exceeding the annual net profit.R&D personnel: 122,000; globally, 59,691 patents have been applied for and 35,837 have been granted.
