BASF's Coatings division has successfully expanded the production capacity of its polyester and polyurethane resin facilities in the Caojing plant in Shanghai. The plant, initially established in 2015 with an annual capacity of 8,000 metric tons of polyester and polyurethane resins, now has a capacity of 18,800 metric tons per year, more than doubling its original capacity.
Furthermore, BASF's Coatings business plans to increase the production of electrocoat binders by optimizing the processes at its Caojing plant, starting in early 2026. This strategic move will solidify BASF's Coatings business' leading position in the dynamic automotive coatings market, enabling the company to better support the growth of all coatings used by automotive original equipment manufacturers and component manufacturers in the Asia Pacific region over the next decade.
