Aptar Beauty introduces recyclable spray pump for home care
Aptar Beauty has revealed its Trigger Spray Pump (TSP), a full-plastic recyclable pump for the home care market, aiming to enhance consumer experience with its soft actuation and spray.
TSP is fully made of polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE), including a PP spring, and is said to be highly recyclable in the polyolefin stream. According to Aptar Beauty, the spring is never in contact with the formula, ensuring a higher level of compatibility even with corrosive cleaning formulations.
The company adds that the 1.2cc dosage is ideal for a range of home care, surface cleaning and stain removal uses. The pump’s design offers a range of customization options such as multiple nozzles for different spray experiences or different neck finishes. It includes additional safety options for more product security such as ratchet neck finish, Child Resistant (CRC) or a clip.
Also in the home care space, in June Sonke announced it was dispensing Unilever brands through its first automated refill store in Johannesburg, a development set to lower prices by up to 60% while promoting refill behaviours in local communities. Consumers can now dispense products from Sunlight, Handy Andy, and other Unilever brands into their own containers at bulk prices.
The following month, Amcor collaborated with Slovenian food and home care company Mediacor to launch a ‘recycle-ready’ spouted stand-up pouch for its Nana brand liquid products in Italy, Germany and Austria. By using the AmPrima refill pouch, Nana has reportedly reduced the plastic used to package 2 litres of product by up to 80% and lowered the carbon footprint of its packaging by up to 64%, compared to two blow moulded 1 litre PET bottles.
