Analysis of Domestic Polypropylene (PP) Plant Maintenance Loss Proportion in August 2025
In August, the loss of domestic polypropylene production due to maintenance decreased, coupled with the commissioning of new units, further depressing market prices. The price gap across major regions continued to narrow. What is the specific distribution of polypropylene in major regions domestically?
Data source: Jinlianchuang
In August, the domestic polypropylene plant maintenance loss amounted to 582,900 tons, a decrease of 32,900 tons compared to the previous month. Maintenance this month was mainly concentrated in North China, Northeast China, and East China. Among them, North China ranked first, accounting for 38.98% of the national maintenance. This month, long-term shutdowns were observed at facilities such as Wanhua Chemical, Hongrun Petrochemical, Qilu Petrochemical, and Yanshan Petrochemical, with additional maintenances at Jineng line one and Dongming Hengchang. Secondly, the Northeast accounted for 21.71%, with long-term shutdowns at facilities like Haiguo Longyou, Jinxi Petrochemical, Dalian Organic, and Northern Huajin, and the addition of a shutdown at Fushun Petrochemical. Thirdly, East China accounted for 16.3% of the national total, with persistent shutdowns at facilities like Shaoxing Sanjin, and new shutdowns at Zhejiang Petrochemical and Yangzi Petrochemical, which restarted after this month's shutdown. In Northwest China, new shutdowns occurred at Shenhua Xinjiang and the second line of Yanchang Yulin Energy and Chemical. This month, many previously maintained facilities restarted, resulting in a slight decrease in the domestic polypropylene production plant maintenance loss compared to last month.
It is understood that in the future, only units such as the third line at Zhenhai Refining & Chemical have maintenance plans for September, and some units under maintenance in August are scheduled to restart. It is expected that the overall maintenance loss in September will decrease significantly compared to this month, and the overall supply pressure will continue to increase.
