A Key Step Towards Globalization: XPeng's First European Research & Development (R&D) Center Officially Opens
On September 10th, XPeng Motors officially announced the official opening of its Munich R&D Center in Germany, the company’s ninth global and first European research and development center. He Xiaopeng and a group of XPeng executives participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the R&D center.
This is XPeng's first R&D center established in Europe, and it is the ninth major R&D site for XPeng Motors globally, following the R&D centers in Silicon Valley and San Diego in the United States. This marks a significant extension of XPeng's global R&D network into the European market.
With the core strategy of "In Europe, With Europe," XPeng's R&D center in Munich, Germany will collaborate with the R&D centers in Silicon Valley and San Diego to deeply explore the needs of European users.
From China to the world, XPeng Motors relies on a global R&D network spanning China, the US, and Europe to continuously overcome geographical boundaries, transforming cutting-edge smart automotive technology into tangible value for global users.
Gu Hongdi, Vice Chairman and Co-President of XPeng Motors, also stated that the center would enable the company to directly listen to the voices of European users and transform their needs into innovative results for XPeng Motors.
In recent years, XPeng Motors has been accelerating its expansion in the European market, starting with the Norwegian market. XPeng has launched models such as the XPeng P7, XPeng G9, and XPeng G6 in multiple countries including Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, and the United Kingdom.
As of now, XPeng Motors has achieved several milestones, including being the number one Chinese brand in terms of high-end pure electric vehicle exports, the number one Chinese brand in sales of high-end pure electric models in Europe, the number one emerging brand in sales across fourteen European countries, and being the first emerging brand to surpass 10,000 deliveries in the European market.
In addition, after the official debut of XPeng’s all-new P7 and P7+ at the Munich Motor Show, they are expected to enter the European market soon. At that time, XPeng’s sales footprint in Europe will be further expanded.
