8,000 Tons/Year! China Adds New Titanium Dioxide Production Capacity
Recently, Bengbu Investment Group Co., Ltd. (Bengtou Group) was informed by its holding company, Bengbu Guotai Nano Material Co., Ltd. (Guotai Nano), that after several months of intensive debugging and trial production, the company's 80,000-ton chloride process titanium dioxide production line has successfully achieved stable mass production.
The National Titanium Nano Chlorination Process Nano Titanium Dioxide Project primarily involves the construction of a production line with an annual capacity of 80,000 tons for chlorinated titanium dioxide. It is complemented by production lines for 200,000 tons of titanium-rich materials and 150,000 tons of deep-processed molten iron (ductile iron pipes) per year. Once operational, the project is expected to generate annual sales revenue of nearly 3 billion yuan, making it the largest manufacturing investment project in recent years by Bengtou Group.

Public information shows that Guotai Nano was founded in 2020 with a registered capital of 500 million yuan. As one of the production enterprises in China's titanium dioxide industry with a full industrial chain of "titanium ore-titanium slag-titanium dioxide", it relies on full industrial chain resources to build a complete industrial system from raw ore extraction, titanium slag production to chlorination titanium dioxide manufacturing. Guotai Nano focuses on the research and manufacturing of high-performance titanium dioxide, with products covering high titanium slag, titanium tetrachloride, titanium dioxide, and high-purity titanium dioxide.
In 2020, Guotai Nano invested 1.743 billion yuan to construct a titanium dioxide project, utilizing advanced chlorination process technology with a planned total capacity of 300,000 tons. This project employs internationally leading full-chain chlorination process technology and advanced automation control systems, ensuring refined management throughout the entire process from raw material input to finished product, greatly improving production efficiency and quality stability. During the construction of the project, Guotai Nano's technical team continuously explored new process methods and technical means, successfully overcoming many technical challenges in mass production with advanced technological equipment and scientific management.
In early September this year, Guotai Nano launched its first chlorination process titanium dioxide product, GR-901. GR-901 is a multifunctional general-purpose titanium dioxide produced using the chlorination process, featuring zirconium and aluminum coatings, as well as organic and micro-powder surface treatments. The product has outstanding characteristics such as uniform particle size distribution, blue undertone, high brightness, high gloss, high dispersion, high weather resistance, and multifunctionality, making it widely used in coatings, inks, papermaking, plastics, and other fields.
According to Fan Huichao, General Manager of Guotai Nano, during the project planning and construction phase, not only was a wastewater and waste residue treatment system built, but also a comprehensive utilization of electric furnace tail gas and residual heat was achieved. Additionally, a 13.5 MW distributed photovoltaic power station built on the factory roof was connected to the grid and began generating power by the end of April this year, achieving a win-win situation for economic and environmental benefits. After the project achieves stable mass production, Bangtou Group will promote Guotai Nano to accelerate the planning and implementation of the second phase of the titanium dioxide project.
