The 27th International Waste Plastics Day is set to take place in Dresden, Germany, on 24 and 25 June. Organised by the German association for secondary raw materials and waste disposal bvse (Bonn), this year’s congress is to focus on the theme of Plastics Recycling: Out of the Crisis and Into the Future. More than 300 participants are expected to take part.

Following the keynote speech by Ton Emans, president of industry association Plastics Recyclers Europe (PRE, ), two panel discussions will examine the impact of new legal frameworks on plastics recycling.

Gunda Rachut, chairperson of Germany’s central agency packaging register ZSVRBettina Rechenberg from the federal environment agency UBAFritz Flanderka from Reclay , and bvse vice-president Herbert Snell will discuss the opportunities and challenges of the regulatory requirements, moderated by Martin Engelmann from IK.

In the afternoon, the programme will be divided into two parallel workshops – while one will focus on Poland as a partner country and offer insights into market structures, legal frameworks, and cross-border challenges there, the other, led by Dirk Textor, will examine topics related to quantities, markets, and prices in plastics recycling.
