2025 International Automotive Innovation Technology Week Opens, New Changes Emerge in the Automotive Industry
On August 13th, the "IATW 2025 Infopro International Automotive Innovation Technology Week (Shanghai) / CIAIE 2025 20th Shanghai International Automotive Interior and Exterior Exhibition," jointly hosted by the China Electrotechnical Society, Shanghai Society of Automotive Engineers, Infopro Exhibition (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., and other organizations, grandly opened at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. The first day of the exhibition was unprecedentedly grand, attracting over 33,000 domestic and international professional visitors, including more than 5,826 overseas attendees, both numbers reaching record highs.
At the opening ceremony of the IATW 2025 Anglo-French International Automotive Innovation Technology Week (Shanghai) held on the morning of the 13th, Yao Jie, Supervisor and Deputy Secretary-General of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, shared the latest market situation of the automotive industry. From the perspective of market operation, from January to July 2025, China’s automobile production and sales reached 18.235 million and 18.269 million units respectively, representing year-on-year increases of 12.7% and 12%.
Among them, new energy vehicles have become an important driving force for the growth of China's automobile market. From January to July 2025, the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 8.232 million and 8.22 million units respectively, representing year-on-year increases of 39.2% and 38.5%. Domestic sales of new energy vehicles reached 6.913 million units, a year-on-year growth of 3.2%, accounting for 47% of the domestic automobile sales.
In terms of market concentration, the top ten companies currently have a combined sales volume of 15.35 million vehicles, accounting for 84% of the industry’s total scale. Among them, new energy vehicle sales total 6.46 million units, representing 78.6% of the total new energy vehicle market.
In addition, Yao Jie also shared insights on vigorously eliminating "involution-style" competition, the safety risks of intelligent driving technology, the industry commitment to "payment terms not exceeding 60 days," tariff wars, and trade friction, among other industry hot topics.
Looking ahead to the whole year, Yao Jie believes that the momentum of stable growth in China's automobile market will continue. The economic policies deployed at the Politburo meeting for the second half of the year will effectively unleash domestic demand and continuously optimize market competition. Additionally, the issuance of the third and fourth batches of ultra-long-term government bonds in the second half of the year, along with the supervision of local government bond usage, will strongly drive the automobile market. He predicts that in 2025, China will continue to achieve automobile production and sales exceeding 30 million units, with an optimistic estimate of reaching a historical high of 33 million units.
To create a technical feast for the automotive interior and exterior industry, CIAIE 2025 meticulously segments the key links of the industry chain, bringing together hundreds of benchmark enterprises from the global automotive interior and exterior full industry chain, including Huayu Automotive, Ningbo Huaxiang, Shenda Co., Autoliv, Henkel, and others. They will present the latest products, technological achievements, and innovative solutions, attracting professional audiences from countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Russia to gather in one place.
At the same time, CIAIE 2025 will feature specialized theme forums, bringing together industry experts, scholars, and business leaders from around the world. Through keynote speeches, technology demonstrations, and other formats, they will deeply analyze industry development trends, technological innovations, and application scenarios, providing the audience with comprehensive and multi-dimensional new insights into the industry, packed with valuable information.
It is worth noting that at the exhibition, Proton Auto held a launch event themed "Yaobian: A New Era" for the "Yaoling II." Following the 2023 release of the "Yaoling I," this is another groundbreaking concept heavy-duty truck introduced by Proton Auto. With its forward-thinking design philosophy, it leads the commercial vehicle industry in envisioning a new model of "unmanned freight transport," steering toward a green and intelligent future for freight logistics.
According to Proton Auto Chairman Wang Zhao, the Yaoling II boldly adopts forward-looking designs aimed at the future. By implementing features such as reverse transportation mode, a central axle design, and all-weather operation, it maximizes the advantages of autonomous driving technology in terms of efficiency, cost, and space. It is dedicated to creating an intelligent unmanned transport vehicle with ultimate transport efficiency and enhanced profitability.
Standing at the critical juncture of intelligent transformation in the logistics and transportation industry, Proton Motor, together with leading companies in the intelligent driving field such as Youjia Innovation, Carl Power, Green Electric Intelligence, and Super Star Future, jointly launched a strategic cooperation at this press conference to collaboratively create a new ecosystem for intelligent commercial vehicle transportation.
In addition, compared to previous years, this exhibition has specially launched an embodied intelligence section. In 2025, embodied intelligence is reaching a critical turning point for industrialization. In response to the explosive market demand and the collaborative innovation development of the industrial chain, this exhibition has established a core platform for collaborative innovation across the entire industry chain, gathering numerous leading enterprises and innovative forces in the embodied intelligence industry chain. Among them, Tesla, the National Robot Testing and Evaluation Center (headquarters), Ningbo Junpu Artificial Intelligence and Humanoid Robot Research Institute, Suzhou Botler Robotics, PNDbotics, and others showcased their latest research and development products, breakthrough technological achievements, and innovative solutions, collectively demonstrating the vibrant innovation vitality and enormous development potential of China's embodied intelligence industry.
In the wave of transformation in the automotive industry, open cooperation, collaborative development, co-creation of value, and joint ecosystem building have increasingly become the main themes of industry development. This grand event, gathering leading enterprises across the entire new energy vehicle industry chain, is not only a panoramic platform showcasing innovative achievements and cutting-edge trends in new energy vehicles but also will become an innovation engine and value hub driving technological upgrades and deepening global industrial collaboration.
