ExxonMobil Delays New Polyethylene Project
Recently, ExxonMobil announced that it will delay the development schedule of a proposed new polyethylene (PE) project. In a statement, ExxonMobil said, "Based on current market conditions, we will slow down the progress of the 'Coastal Plains Project'." The company was previously considering launching this project in Calhoun County, Texas. It is reported that ExxonMobil originally planned to construct an ethane cracker with an annual capacity of 2.2 million tons of ethylene as part of the "Coastal Plains Project"; additionally, it planned to build a downstream facility for metallocene linear low-density polyethylene (mLLDPE), with a capacity scale yet to be finalized, initially considered to be between 1.8 million and 2.7 million tons per year.
