The China Automotive Industry Association and others have released a notice on the detection of five safety requirements for automotive data processing (Batch 4). Starting from August 2025, the China Automotive Industry Association, the National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, and the National Industrial Information Security Development Research Center will organize inspections of automotive manufacturers' compliance with automotive product data security (covering five compliance requirements: anonymization of external facial information, in-cabin processing of cockpit data, default non-collection of cockpit data, significant notification for personal information processing, and applicability of precision range) based on the "Several Provisions on Automotive Data Security Management (Trial)" and regulations such as GB/T 41871-2022 "Information Security Technology - Automotive Data Processing Security Requirements" and GB/T 44464-2024 "General Requirements for Automotive Data," following the principle of voluntary submission by enterprises. EU CBAM Draft Expansion: Carbon Tariffs on Downstream Products to Be Imposed in 2026
Recently, the EU unveiled a draft for the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), expanding the tax scope from raw materials like steel and aluminum to downstream assembled products, including automotive parts (where steel and aluminum account for over 50%), home appliances (over 30%), and gardening tools (over 20%). The implementation will occur in three phases: starting from October 2023, a transition period for data reporting; in January 2025, the declaration will open; and by January 2026, full payment obligations will be implemented. The fees will be calculated as (emissions - free allowances) × carbon price - already paid costs.
