Application
Microban® antimicrobial additive ZO1-5073-080 belongs to the ZPTech® product line. It is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial formulation suitable for various manufacturing processes such as injection molding, profile extrusion, and blow molding. The carrier resin is carefully selected to be compatible with polypropylene materials and thermoplastic elastomers.

Usage Guidelines
Microban® antimicrobial additive ZO1-5073-080 is supplied in the form of thermoplastic plastic granules and can be added similarly to common color masterbatches in the plastics industry. Refer to the accompanying safety data sheet for detailed handling and safety information; it is strongly recommended that operators comply with all safety protocols. The dosage varies depending on the finished product and application. Typically, the addition rate ranges from 1.0% to 3.0% by weight. Adequate inter-particle mixing must be ensured to thoroughly incorporate the additive into the base polymer for optimal antimicrobial performance. The melting temperature must always be kept below 240°C.
Recommended Antimicrobial Testing
It is recommended to use test methods JISZ2801 or ISO22196 to evaluate the antimicrobial efficacy on solid surfaces. Depending on the inherent surface properties of the polymer, adjustments may be needed for nutrient load and initial inoculum levels. ASTMG21 or AATCCTM30(iii) can be used to demonstrate antifungal efficacy.
