Xiaomi Announces Recall of 116,887 SU7 Vehicles! Stock Price Plummets
On September 19, according to the official website of the State Administration for Market Regulation, Xiaomi Automobile Technology Co., Ltd. has filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation in accordance with the "Regulations on the Recall of Defective Automobile Products" and the "Implementation Measures for the Regulations on the Recall of Defective Automobile Products." It has decided to recall a total of 116,887 units of certain SU7 standard version electric vehicles produced from February 6, 2024, to August 30, 2025, starting from today.
Recall Number S2025M0149I: Involves models XMA7000MBEVR2 and XMA7000MBEVR2, totaling 98,462 vehicles.
Recall Number S2025M0150I: Involves BJ7000MBEVR2 model, totaling 18,425 vehicles.
Some vehicles within the recall scope may have insufficient recognition, warning, or handling of extremely special scenarios when the L2 highway pilot assist function is activated under certain conditions. If the driver does not intervene in a timely manner, it may increase the risk of collision and pose a safety hazard.
Xiaomi Automobile Technology Co., Ltd. will provide free software upgrades via over-the-air (OTA) technology for vehicles within the recall scope to eliminate safety hazards.
Xiaomi Auto Technology Co., Ltd. will notify the relevant vehicle owners via SMS, mobile APP, and other means.
It is worth noting that on January 24, Xiaomi Automobile Technology Co., Ltd. recalled part of the SU7 standard version electric vehicles. According to the announcement, this recall affects 30,931 units of the SU7 standard version electric vehicles produced from February 6, 2024, to November 26, 2024. Among them, 18,410 units are of vehicle model BJ7000MBEVR2; 12,117 units are of vehicle model XMA7000MBEVR2; and 404 units are of vehicle model XMA7000MBEVR5.
Some vehicles within this recall range may experience synchronization issues due to a software strategy problem, which could affect the intelligent parking assist function's ability to detect static obstacles, increasing the risk of scraping or collision and posing a safety hazard.
Affected by the news, Xiaomi Group's stock opened lower, with the decline once expanding to 2%. As of the time of writing, the stock was trading at HKD 56.30 per share.
