US Sanctions China Oil Terminals and Refineries Involving 16 Chinese Companies and Individuals
On October 9 local time, the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced a fourth round of sanctions targeting the export of Iranian oil and petrochemical products, imposing sanctions on more than 50 individuals, entities, and vessels facilitating the sale and transportation of Iranian oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). On the same day, the U.S. Department of State also announced sanctions against 40 individuals, entities, or vessels.
The sanctions involve 15 Chinese companies and 1 individual, including oil terminal operators, independent "teapot" refineries, several shell companies in Hong Kong, ship registration companies or agencies, chemical logistics companies, and individuals, among others.
