The PVCMed Alliance, headquartered in Denmark, has officially merged into VinylPlus Healthcare. As an integrated industry platform, VinylPlus Healthcare encompasses the recycling programs of both VinylPlus Med (medical devices) and VinylPlus PharmPack (pharmaceutical blister packaging). This move will ensure a more coordinated and efficient communication and action system within the industry regarding the applications of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) in the medical field.

Promoting rational discussion on the issue of medical PVC.

"The VinylPlus Healthcare platform aims to integrate multiple professional forces to achieve more collaborative and efficient industry cooperation," said Ole Grøndahl Hansen, the project leader of the platform. "We hope to promote a rational discussion in the medical industry about PVC—recognizing its technical advantages while also focusing on its continuously improving sustainability features." Mr. Hansen has written several articles for "Today’s Plastics," illustrating the important value of PVC in medical products.

Former PVCMed project manager Ole Grøndahl Hansen has been appointed as the project leader of the VinylPlus Healthcare platform.

New research confirms that flexible PVC can be recycled multiple times without compromising performance.

The latest research conducted by the Spanish Plastics Technology Center Aimplas for VinylPlus Healthcare shows that flexible PVC materials, widely used in medical devices, can maintain their technical performance even after being mechanically recycled six times.

"It is well known that rigid PVC can be recycled multiple times without significantly reducing its quality," said Charlotte Röber, CEO of VinylPlus. "The research by Aimplas confirms for the first time that this characteristic also applies to flexible materials, further consolidating PVC's leading position in the field of mechanical recycling."

PVC has a long history of application in the medical field, covering critical scenarios such as blood bags, medical catheters, pharmaceutical packaging, hospital infrastructure, and emergency equipment. Over the years, continuous innovation in the industry has not only enhanced the technical performance of PVC medical solutions but also significantly improved their environmental performance.

Build a unified industry voice.

VinylPlus Healthcare provides partners with comprehensive support including regulatory dynamic tracking, strategic insight analysis, industry networking, and policy standard formulation, ensuring that PVC remains the preferred material for medical applications. By joining the broader VinylPlus family, member units will also share industry-wide sustainable development initiatives and circular economy achievements.

The platform is open to all participants in the medical PVC industry chain. The organization stated that as regulatory requirements and sustainability expectations continue to evolve, a unified industry voice is crucial for driving technological innovation, enhancing recycling performance, and advocating for fact-based discussions on PVC medical applications.
