Technip Energies and Anellotech Launch Commercialization of Plas-TCat Plastic Recycling Technology
On September 19, Zhuangsu Vision learned that Technip Energies and Anellotech are about to commercialize the Plas-TCat technology, an innovative catalytic cracking technology that can convert plastic waste into high-value chemicals.
Two companies have recently completed a development project for the Plas-TCat technology, which can directly convert mixed plastic waste into basic chemicals used for producing new plastics.
The collaboration between both parties aims to bring scalable, economically viable, and sustainable transformation to global plastic waste management.
The successful development of Plas-TCat technology marks a significant breakthrough in the field of chemical recycling and circular economy solutions. This one-step catalytic process can handle unsorted and untreated plastic waste, including single-use plastics, flexible packaging, and even some polyvinyl chloride (PVC), directly converting it into benzene, toluene, xylene (BTX), ethylene, and propylene.
Other technologies can only achieve single-use recycling of plastics, while Plas-TCat technology opens up the possibility of infinite recycling—its newly produced chemicals can be repeatedly used for the manufacture of plastics and even fuels.
Wei Cai, Chief Technology Officer of Technip Energies, recently visited Anellotech's development facility in Texas, USA, and stated: "This achievement demonstrates the strong power of collaboration in addressing global sustainability challenges. Through joint efforts, we have collectively showcased a next-generation scalable solution that brings true circularity to plastic waste."
Currently, product samples of this technology are available for customer evaluation, and Dechra Energy Company is actively negotiating with global potential partners for the construction of commercial plants with Anellotech.
