Strong Domestic Demand for Energy Storage Cells: 78,200 Energy Storage Companies Registered This Year

According to CCTV Finance, the demand for domestic energy storage cells is currently very strong. Leading battery companies have stated that their factories are operating at full capacity, with some orders already booked until early next year. In addition, according to the "Special Action Plan for the Large-Scale Construction of New Energy Storage," the goal is to reach an installed capacity of over 180 million kilowatts in China by 2027, which will drive new project investments of approximately 250 billion yuan.

On October 14, data from Qichacha shows that there are currently 314,500 energy storage-related enterprises in China. Over the past decade, the registration of related enterprises has shown an overall growth trend, with 43,700 new enterprises registered in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 221.26%, reaching the peak growth rate of the past ten years. In 2024, it is projected that 90,900 new enterprises will be registered, a year-on-year increase of 17.56%, marking the peak registration volume in the past decade. As of now, 78,200 enterprises have been registered this year, with 77,100 registered in the first nine months, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 18.61%.

From the perspective of operating time,Energy storage-related companies have mostly been established in the past three years, with the highest proportion (40.66%) of companies founded between 1 to 3 years ago. This is followed by companies established within 1 year and those founded between 3 to 5 years, accounting for 31.39% and 11.79% respectively.

From the perspective of the distribution of urban hierarchy levels,The majority of energy storage-related companies are located in new first-tier cities, accounting for 24.80%. Following that, related companies are distributed in third-tier cities and second-tier cities, accounting for 21.38% and 19.42% respectively.
