Sisoco Wins Four 2025 SPE Automotive Awards, Recognized for Innovative Sustainable Materials
Leader in the Global High-Performance Polymers SectorSissokoI am proud to announce that in the 2025 SPE Automotive Awards, we received four recognitions from the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) in the United States for our joint innovation achievements with our partners. The awards were selected by a jury of 35 industry experts after a rigorous evaluation of the sustainability impact and technical innovation of the entries. The award ceremony was held in Bonn, Germany.

In the "Chassis and Structural Components" category, the rear axle steering toothed pulley jointly developed by Solvay and ZF Group won the first prize. This component is made using Solvay's Ryton® BR111 BL material, fully demonstrating the innovative application value of specialty polymers in automotive core systems: it withstands harsh conditions in oil-containing environments at temperatures up to 150°C while consistently maintaining dimensional stability and wear resistance. Compared to traditional metal powder metallurgy processes, this solution achieves a 45% weight reduction and reduces the carbon footprint by 30%, while effectively suppressing noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH), providing users with a more comfortable and smooth driving experience.
In the same category, Solvay also won the third prize with another collaborative achievement. This achievement is the miniature collimator bracket used in the Lucid Gravity electric vehicle, produced by Jabil Optics using Solvay's Ryton® PPS BR111 BL material and injection molded by Ningbo Xingrui Electronics Technology Co., Ltd. Leveraging the technological advantages of Solvay's specialty polymers, the material's carbon footprint for this component is reduced by 79% compared to traditional aluminum alloy solutions.
In addition to the two awarded achievements mentioned above, Sensata Technologies also has two joint development projects nominated for their outstanding technological contributions in the field of next-generation electric mobility. One of the nominations is for the high-voltage connector used in Bosch's electric drive motor, which is injection molded by Furnel Inc. This product combines Sensata's Amodel® PPA material with optimized design, offering not only excellent electrical performance and enhanced flame retardancy but also reducing the production cycle by 50%.
Another nomination achievement is the jointly developed power module with the German semiconductor manufacturer Semikron-Danfoss Elektronik GmbH, made from Ensinger Amodel® Bios HFFR R1-133 material, which has a CIT of level 0 (measured at 900V) and a long-term heat resistance temperature (RTI) of 140°C. This product has achieved a significant reduction in size, simplified assembly through laser welding technology, and enhanced long-term reliability. Additionally, due to the bio-based material formulation and the use of recycled aluminum, the carbon footprint of this component has been reduced by approximately 40%.
