Reel Power Delivers World's Largest Thermoplastic Pipe Coiler
Reel Power Marine & Energy, headquartered in Houston, has successfully designed and manufactured the world's largest thermoplastic pipe coiler.

The company stated that this custom-designed pipe spool system was specifically created for an undisclosed client to meet the growing demand for high-capacity pipelines in the global energy infrastructure market. The system was designed with flexibility and high throughput in mind, featuring an adjustable spool inner diameter (ID) range achieved through interchangeable spool ID pads and a maximum spool outer diameter (OD) of 264 inches. This equipment is capable of handling spools weighing up to 32,000 pounds and supports pipe diameters of up to 8 inches.
The winder operates at speeds exceeding 100 feet per minute, driven by a high-performance variable frequency drive, and is equipped with a servo-controlled automatic web guide for precise interlayer control. According to Reel Power, to enhance production efficiency, the equipment also integrates a servo-controlled semi-automatic strapping function and a robust roll unloading lift table, simplifying the unloading process.
The system includes a touchscreen interface with built-in programmable winding schemes, allowing operators to configure and execute winding parameters through the interface. Reel Power states that this ensures consistency and repeatability across production batches.
