On the evening of July 29, Li Auto officially launched its six-seat all-electric SUV—the Li Auto i8—offering three configurations: Pro, Max, and Ultra, with prices ranging from 321,800 to 369,800 yuan. Pre-orders for the vehicle began in mid-July, and deliveries will start on August 20.

As Li Auto’s first all-electric SUV and its second pure electric product following the Li MEGA, the Li i8 carries even more practical market expectations than the MEGA. According to previous reports, Li Auto has set a sales target of 120,000 units for its pure electric products (including MEGA) this year. Considering the current delivery situation of the MEGA, the Li i8, together with the Li i6 to be launched in the second half of the year, will shoulder the main sales tasks.

It is not difficult to see from the configuration and performance of the Li Auto i8 that Li Auto has indeed put considerable effort into this model.

In terms of appearance, the Li Auto i8 has a highly distinctive design. "The design inspiration for the Li Auto i8 comes from yachts. The yacht-style design offers lower wind resistance and energy consumption, more spacious seating, and better visibility," said Li Xiang, Chairman and CEO of Li Auto. As a new era SUV, the Li Auto i8 combines the advantages of off-road vehicles, sedans, and MPVs.

In terms of body dimensions, the Li Xiang i8 measures 5085/1960/1740mm in length, width, and height respectively, with a wheelbase of 3050mm. The vehicle comes standard with a ternary lithium 5C supercharging battery across all models, offering two battery versions of 90.1kWh and 97.8kWh. The CLTC range reaches 670km and 720km respectively, and it supports a 5C charging rate, allowing a 10-minute charge to add 500km of range.

The entire series of this car comes standard with front and rear dual-motor all-wheel drive and dual-chamber magic carpet air suspension. It is reported that the dual motors have a maximum power of 400kW and a peak torque of 660Nm, enabling 0-100 km/h acceleration in 4.5 seconds, and even with 20% battery remaining, it can still achieve 0-100 km/h acceleration in 5 seconds.

In terms of overall vehicle safety, this car comes standard with 9 airbags across all models and is equipped with the longest side curtain airbags among SUV models, providing comprehensive protection for all occupants. Meanwhile, to further enhance active safety, the entire lineup is equipped with LiDAR as standard. Building on the existing AEB (Automatic Emergency Braking) and AES (Automatic Emergency Steering) systems, the AES now supports additional and more challenging active safety scenarios, such as slow vehicle cut-ins, malicious lane changes, and American-style roadblocks.

In terms of assisted driving, the Li Auto i8 is the first to feature the VLA Driver Model. Li Auto claims that the VLA Driver Model possesses stronger cognitive abilities, allowing it to predict risks, understand the world, and perceive space like a human. It also has enhanced communication abilities, enabling smooth interaction using only natural language, and improved memory capabilities to remember user preferences and habits.
