Pile foundation construction! Luoyang's million-ton ethylene project enters a new phase of construction
On the 18th, a reporter from Luobao Media learned from Sinopec Henan Refining Company that the enterprise has recently officially started the construction of the pile foundation for the refining supporting project of the million-ton ethylene project, marking that the refining supporting project has entered a fast track for full-scale implementation.
Pile foundation is composed of cast-in-place piles and lime-soil compaction piles set in rock and soil, along with the cap connected to the pile top, used for supporting production facilities or buildings. Due to the complex and variable underground soil conditions at the construction site of the million-ton ethylene project, with varying heights of aquifers, to avoid later foundation settlement, it is necessary to enhance the land's bearing capacity through pile foundation engineering, ensuring that the future facilities "stand firm and stable."
According to the coordinated plan, the project will commence this month and continue until mid-June, with different types of pile drivers set up by unit and area to meet the needs of continuous construction.

To ensure the smooth progress of pile foundation construction, the Henan Refining and Chemical Ethylene Project Management Department has formulated a detailed construction plan, reasonably arranged personnel and equipment resources, ensured pile foundation quality, strictly controlled key processes such as surveying and layout verification, and pile top elevation control during construction, achieving traceable quality management.
After the completion of pile foundation construction, the million-ton ethylene project and its associated refining facilities will enter the civil construction and installation phase. According to the overall coordination plan, efforts will be made to achieve mechanical completion by December 2026 and handover acceptance by March 2027.
As an important supporting part of the million-ton ethylene project, the refining supporting project received the headquarters' approval for the basic design on October 27, 2023. The construction content mainly includes a 2.2 million tons/year hydrocracking unit and a 400,000 tons/year ethane recovery unit, with an estimated investment of 1.714 billion yuan. Among them, after the completion of the 2.2 million tons/year hydrocracking unit, it will promote the straight-run diesel and
The significantly enhanced catalytic diesel processing capacity has achieved an increase in jet fuel production for the company, which helps Henan Refining and Chemical to accelerate the establishment of a jet fuel production and reserve base around the refining sector. This improves the overall profit-making ability of the enterprise and further contributes to the development of an advanced green petrochemical materials industry base in Henan Province.
