Sinopec's pure benzene prices at refineries in East China and South China have been reduced by 350 yuan/ton, now at 6,600 yuan/ton, effective March 26.

Today, the nylon 6 chip market has seen a slight increase. The upstream pure benzene has rebounded, and the raw material caprolactam market has followed suit with a small rise, resulting in increased chip costs. Polymer enterprises are maintaining firm quotations, but downstream buyers, after previous restocking, are taking a wait-and-see approach, leading to limited overall transactions and market negotiations for actual deals. East China PA6 conventional spinning ordinary price is 10,500-10,800 yuan/ton cash short delivery, high-speed spinning spot price is 11,100-11,700 yuan/ton with acceptance delivery. Chao Lake price is 9,700-9,800 yuan/ton cash self-pickup.

The capacity utilization rate of nylon 6 is 82.59%. Raw material prices have slightly increased, and the price of conventional spinning nylon 6 chip has also risen slightly. The profit for conventional spinning is 50 yuan/ton, while the profit for high-speed spinning is 73 yuan/ton.

4 Price prediction

From the cost perspective, the caprolactam market may operate in a range or slightly rise following the pure benzene prices, with attention on the future maintenance and reduction of production by raw material companies. From the supply and demand perspective, Zhejiang Fangyuan is gradually shutting down for maintenance, and Fangming plans to have maintenance next week, leading to a reduction in supply. However, the overall market supply remains high and there is pressure for inventory destocking. Downstream is cautious about replenishing stock. It is expected that the polyamide 6 market will operate in a narrow range in the short term, with close attention on downstream demand and manufacturers' pricing dynamics.
