Mitsui Chemicals and Polyplastics Announce Partnership on Marketing of Engineering Plastic Products
On October 27, 2025, Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (referred to as "Mitsui Chemicals") and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Daicel Corporation (referred to as "Daicel")...Polyplastics Co., Ltd.It was announced that both parties have signed a collaboration agreement on the marketing of engineering plastic products (under the ARLEN® and AURUM® brands) developed and sold by Mitsui Chemicals.

According to the agreement, starting from January 1, 2026, Mitsui Chemicals will entrust Polyplastics with part of the marketing operations for these products. Polyplastics will be fully responsible for customer engagement, new customer development, and technical support activities.
Mitsui Chemicals will continue to be responsible for ARLEN.®AURUM®Research and development, production, logistics, and other businesses. Currently, there are no plans to adjust sales channels and related processes.
Mitsui Chemicals aims to leverage Polyplastics' customer network and solution capabilities to meet the needs.Automotive and electrical electronics fieldTo meet the growing demand for high-performance engineering plastics, thereby achieving further business growth.
Meanwhile, Polyplastics is expanding with the addition of ARLEN.®AURUM®The marketing business will further enrich its product portfolio and enhance its ability to provide solutions to more customers.
The two companies will explore opportunities for further deepening their cooperation in the future.
Mitsui Chemicals' ARLEN®It is a modified polyamide 6T.It has high heat resistance, low water absorption, high mechanical strength, and good fluidity, making it suitable for connectors, sockets, buttons, and other SMT electronic components, automotive parts, automotive electrical components, cylinder head covers, thermostat housings, and other engine compartment internal components.
AURUM of Mitsui Chemicals®AURUM is a type of thermoplastic polyimide (TPI) that possesses the highest level of heat resistance among thermoplastic resins. It overturns the perception that polyimide has excellent performance but is difficult to process. It is a super engineering plastic that can be efficiently produced through injection molding.®Applicable to various application environments, such as excavator guide rings, automotive gearbox and turbocharger seals, as well as various shaft sleeve applications in both oil and non-oil environments.
On October 16, 2025, Daisalu announced that "Borealis Plastics will be split according to Daisalu Group's restructuring plan."Daisilu is currently considering taking over the engineering plastics business of Baoli Plastics starting from April 1, 2026.The cooperation agreement is scheduled to be transferred to Daicel starting April 1, 2026.
