Sina Finance 2025-09-18 15:14:06

On September 18, Meta released its first AI glasses with a display, capable of real-time translation and supporting 3K video recording. Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg highlighted the new Horizon Engine, which can use AI tools to accelerate virtual content creation. In the future, these contents will be supported for integration with the glasses.

Sigmaintell analyst Tao Yang told Yicai Global that Meta released new AR and AI eyewear products at its annual conference, including its first mass-produced AI glasses with a display screen and optical waveguide, the Ray-Ban Meta Display, two AI glasses without displays, and an electromyography bracelet based on sEMG technology. This marks a significant advancement for Meta in consumer-grade wearable devices after its deep cultivation in the VR field, and reflects its systematic layout in hardware, technology, and supply chain strategies.

According to data from Sigmaintell Consulting, global sales of AI smart glasses are expected to reach 5.7 million units in 2025, with a year-on-year growth of over 200%. As an industry leader, Meta is projected to capture more than 65% of the AI glasses market share for the year, driven by the launch of new products.

The breakthrough in AI capabilities was the focus of Meta's presentation on the 18th. Zuckerberg stated that creating content for three-dimensional immersive experiences takes a long time, which is a factor restricting the development of the metaverse ecosystem. Now, with the use of AI, such content can be easily created, and it will also change the types of content available through glasses.

Over the past year, Meta's Horizon Studio has released several generative AI tools to assist creators in their work. Zuckerberg stated that the studio will soon launch the "Meta Horizon Engine," which will integrate all these different tools and further utilize them.

According to Zuckerberg, this engine is dedicated to making the metaverse faster in performance, with better content loading experiences, and enabling the easy creation of infinitely connected virtual spaces. The new engine can provide better rendering effects for virtual spaces, allowing users to customize their own homepage. The speed improvement in virtual space rendering with the new engine takes only a few seconds, making the creation process easier. Furthermore, the new engine allows more people to be in the same virtual space and engage in more interactions.

"Meta Horizon is the infrastructure of the metaverse," Zuckerberg said. It will support immersive experiences and interactions in virtual reality, which will one day enter glasses and social media.
