Lantu Taishan Debuts With Huawei L3 Intelligent Driving, Monthly Sales Expected To Exceed 5000?

Another Chinese-made car with Huawei's full-powered intelligent driving and L3 capability on highways has arrived!
On September 26th, the Voyah Motor's third SUV, and also the brand's first large SUV, the Voyah Taishan, officially debuted. According to the plan, the new vehicle will be launched in the fourth quarter of this year. There are two questions worth discussing: What are the highlights of the Voyah Taishan? Can it achieve monthly sales of 5,000 units?
"Wuhan Cullinan," has six major weapons.
The new car has unveiled six major weapons: design, space, intelligent driving, chassis, range (energy consumption), and luxurious details.
Firstly, a powerful aura. A memorable and strong aura is often strongly linked to the size and appearance of the item. For example, the Rolls-Royce, which naturally attracts attention wherever it goes, whether it's a two-door sports car, a four-door executive car, or an SUV, its long body and elegant, dignified appearance always manage to catch the attention of those on the road.
The design approach for large SUVs that creates a sense of luxury is quite similar. Especially with the two-tone color scheme, it clearly outlines the long body of the Lantu Taishan. The most eye-catching feature is the chrome front grille that occupies two-thirds of the front, which shares a similar design philosophy with the Chasing Light L. The straight multi-bar style not only enhances the visual width of the front but also portrays a luxurious quality distinct from traditional cars. This visual impact and sense of power cannot be accurately captured in images or videos.
Second, spacious interior. Space is an inherent advantage of large vehicles, and this time, the dimensions of the Voyah Zhuque are 5230mm in length, width, and height.
The dimensions are 2025mm in width and 1817mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3120mm. For reference, compared to its "Chinese brother" AITO M9, the Voyah Taishan is 26mm wider, 17mm taller, and has a 10mm longer wheelbase, while the length is exactly the same. Therefore, the very similar length-to-wheelbase ratio means that the internal space of the two cars doesn't show significant differences.
Thirdly, intelligent upgrades. In terms of the intelligent cabin, the Lantu Tai Shan is equipped with Huawei's HarmonyOS Cabin 5, which enhances the interaction and control features. The focus is on the intelligent driving aspect, as the new vehicle is equipped with Huawei's Qian Kun Intelligent Driving ADS 4 Ultra, which is one of the few intelligent driving solutions in the industry that meets the requirements for commercial use of L3 automation on highways.
Additionally, the Lantu Taishan has become the first model not equipped with the HarmonyOS Smart Drive system, featuring the new ADS 4 Ultra. By the end of this month, the ADS 4 system version has been gradually rolled out. The specific practical effects of the highest level ADS 4 Ultra are still uncertain, but considering the WEWA architecture and the hardware configuration of four LiDARs, it can be speculated that the Lantu Taishan equipped with this intelligent driving system will handle complex scenarios more smoothly and promptly. Of course, the core focus will be on actively enhancing the overall safety performance of the vehicle.
Fourth, the details are maximized. At the front of the vehicle, the Voyah Taishan has opted for split headlights with a design that leans towards a narrow and elongated style. This is clearly intended to align with the overall smooth lines and contours of the vehicle's design. Coupled with the large central front grille, it exudes a strong presence, inherently luxurious and commanding respect without aggression. With this face, the Voyah logo design fits seamlessly without any sense of discord.
The door handle is partially hidden, but the internal details have a flowing light effect. The shape formed by the light source is very similar to the illuminated front grille of the Lantu FREE+. This design also reminds one of the Zunjie S800, which also uses the "Star-Picking" door handle.
The tire specifications can reach up to 22 inches, and the rims feature a luxurious "retro pie" chrome design commonly seen in luxury cars. A similar combination can be found in the Zeekr 9X.
Fifth, exceptional driving and riding experience. In terms of chassis tuning and design, Lantu Auto has always been one of the more dedicated players in the industry. For example, the FREE+ model, priced at less than 220,000 yuan, features a chassis made with a significant amount of aluminum materials. The double-wishbone front suspension is even designed with decoupled four ball joints, and the cast aluminum H-arm rear suspension further elevates the comfort level of the rear seats. Therefore, one of the highlights of Lantu Auto is its vehicle handling and comfort.
Returning to the Lantu Taishan, firstly, the seats are equipped with adaptive adjustment wrapping and support, similar in function and effect to Nissan N7's intelligent sofa. The chassis is equipped with three-chamber air springs and EDC magic carpet suspension, capable of using lidar, cameras, and other sensors to preview road conditions and achieve adaptive adjustment of suspension stiffness.
To enable the massive body to maneuver flexibly, rear wheel steering is essential. With a maximum dual-angle of 16 degrees, the rear wheel steering angle of the Zun Jie S800 is 12 degrees in both directions. As a result, even with a wheelbase exceeding 3.1 meters and a length of 5.2 meters, the Lantu Taisan has a minimum turning radius of only 5.4 meters, achieving a tight turning capability similar to that of a Golf.
Sixth, it has a long pure electric range. The new car is based on an 800V high-voltage architecture and is equipped with a 5C rated 65kWh ternary lithium battery pack from CATL and Honeycomb Energy, offering a CLTC pure electric range of 370km and a CLTC comprehensive range of 1400km. The fast charging time from 20% to 80% is 12 minutes. Compared to the AITO Wenjie M9, the new car's battery capacity is increased by 13kWh, providing an additional 80km of pure electric range, while the fast charging time is reduced by more than half.
Can selling 5,000 units in one month be achieved?

The Lantu Taishan has two tags: Huawei and Class D. The AITO M8 and M9, which also have these two tags, reported sales figures of 21,537 and 10,067 units respectively, according to August data.
These two Chinese car models actually reflect a microcosm of the current competitive landscape in China's automotive market, where higher prices often result in better sales. For instance, the Zunjie S800, with a starting price as high as 708,000 yuan, managed to achieve a monthly sales figure of 1,006 units. Additionally, models like the Zeekr 009 and Li Auto MEGA, with an average price per vehicle exceeding 400,000 yuan, also reported monthly sales exceeding 1,000 units.
This indicates that there is still a certain amount of exploration space and potential in the luxury car market. Whether it can thrive depends on how the products understand luxury and value.
From the previous product analysis, it can be seen that the understanding of the Land Tour Taishan is relatively accurate, and it is currently one of the few models that can present high value to consumers.
If terminal sales are still related to brand power, then looking back at Lantu Automobile's sales performance, as of August, the brand has delivered a total of 13,505 new cars, with its two main models, Dreamer and FREE, both achieving a stable monthly sales of 5,000 units. The support from these "small hits" will naturally help the brand enhance its influence in the terminal market.
Considering the overall market trend and the factors of the Voyah brand, the Voyah Taishan, positioned as a flagship, has the potential to become a popular "mini-hit." If the price of the Voyah Taishan can penetrate into the 400,000 yuan range, or even directly into the 350,000 yuan segment, for a flagship car, this approach can be described as full-featured at a fair price, using a larger vehicle to compete with smaller ones. This will inevitably create new disruption in the existing luxury car market.
