Kremlin Warns Western Countries: Russia-Ukraine Conflict Enters "Dangerous Moment of Escalation"

cls 2025-10-13 08:17:13

Introduction: ① The Kremlin has expressed concerns over the possibility of the United States providing "Tomahawk" cruise missiles to Ukraine, believing that this will lead to a dangerous escalation in the Russia-Ukraine conflict; ② Peskov pointed out that if Tomahawk missiles are used to attack Russia, Russia must take into account that some models have the capability to carry nuclear warheads.

According to reports from CCTV and other media, the Kremlin said on Sunday (October 12) that Russia is deeply concerned about the prospect of the United States possibly providing "Tomahawk" cruise missiles to Ukraine, and warned that the Russia-Ukraine conflict is entering a dangerously escalating phase, with tensions among all parties continuing to intensify.

Former U.S. President Trump stated earlier this week that before agreeing to provide Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles, he wants to understand Ukraine's plans for their use, as he "doesn't want to see the Russia-Ukraine conflict escalate further." However, he added that he has "basically already made a decision."

The Tomahawk missile has a range of up to 2,500 kilometers, which means Ukraine will have the capability to carry out long-range strikes deep into Russian territory, including Moscow. According to the U.S. Congressional Research Service, some early models of the "Tomahawk" can carry nuclear warheads.

Kremlin spokesman Peskov stated: "The issue of Tomahawk missiles is highly sensitive. It is indeed a very dangerous moment, with tensions escalating on all sides."

This deadliest conflict in Europe since World War II has triggered the most severe confrontation between Russia and the West since the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. Russian officials claim that Russia is now effectively in a "hot war" with Western countries.

Peskov pointed out that if Tomahawk missiles are used to attack Russia, Russia must take into account that some models have the capability to carry nuclear warheads.

He said, "Imagine a long-range missile is launched and flying, and we know it could carry a nuclear warhead. What should the Russian Federation think? How should it respond? Military experts abroad should be aware of this."

Peskov pointed out that, based on information previously held by Russian intelligence agencies, the Ukrainian side might have been capable of creating some kind of "dirty bomb."

However, he also stated: "The Tomahawk is a special weapon; it can be a non-nuclear weapon or a nuclear weapon. It has a long range and is a powerful weapon. However, at the same time, it cannot change the situation on the front lines."

Russian President Putin warned earlier this month that the Tomahawk missiles could not be used without direct involvement from the U.S. military. Therefore, if the United States provides such weapons to Ukraine, it would mean that the conflict has entered a "new substantial phase of escalation."

Additionally, media reports indicate that for several months, the United States has been assisting Ukraine in carrying out long-range strikes on Russian energy facilities. The reports state that the U.S. intelligence agencies have been providing support in the mission planning process, including route design, flight altitude, timing of strikes, and mission decision-making, to help Ukraine's long-range "one-time attack drones" evade Russian air defense systems.

Putin described this war as a "watershed moment" in Russia's relations with the West. He believes that after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, the West humiliated Russia by expanding NATO and infringing upon what Russia considers its sphere of influence.
