India's First Batch Of Tesla Model Y Officially Delivered! Price Is Twice As High As In China
On September 27th, Tesla's Vice President Tao Lin announced that the first batch of Tesla Model Y vehicles in India has been officially delivered, and all these vehicles were manufactured at Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory.

On July 15 this year, Tesla opened its first showroom in Mumbai, India, marking the company's official entry into the Indian market. At the same time, Tesla announced the prices for the Model Y in India, with the rear-wheel drive version priced at 5.989 million rupees (approximately 500,000 yuan) and the long-range rear-wheel drive version priced at 6.789 million rupees (approximately 560,000 yuan).
It is worth noting that Tesla's prices in the Indian market are significantly higher than in major global automotive markets. According to Tesla's official data, the starting price of the Model Y in the United States is $45,000 (approximately 319,500 RMB), 263,500 RMB in China, and 46,000 euros (approximately 381,300 RMB) in Germany.
Previous reports indicated that this high pricing strategy reflects the tariff challenges faced by Tesla in the Indian market, where imported vehicles are subject to approximately 70% in tariffs and taxes.
