The new research and development center reportedly has a total building area of 21,819 square meters and is expected to be operational by the third quarter of 2026. The center will be equipped with world-leading experimental equipment and a digital R&D platform, covering core functional modules such as R&D office areas, advanced laboratories, efficient storage, and tooling sample rooms.

Otoliv pointed out that in the future, this center will become an important base for Otoliv's product design, virtual simulation, testing and verification, and system integration, comprehensively covering the research and development needs of automotive safety systems. It will further enhance the company's technological innovation capabilities in the field of mobile travel safety, providing safer and more reliable solutions for global customers.

Lili Mao, Vice President of Sales, Engineering, Strategy, and Business Development for Autoliv China, stated: "The establishment of this technical R&D center in Wuhan is an important milestone in our ongoing investment in R&D in China. This project not only demonstrates Autoliv's long-term commitment to the Chinese market but also, by relying on a localized R&D strategy, allows us to continuously enhance our technological innovation capabilities. With the strategy of 'In China, for the world,' we aim to advance automotive safety technology."

According to Gasgoo, on March 7 this year, Autoliv and the government of Dongxihu District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, officially held a signing ceremony for Autoliv’s second technology R&D center in China. This also marks another significant upgrade for the Wuhan office of Autoliv China Technical Center.

At the time, Autoliv China's President Sun Yi stated that Wuhan stands out with its advantages in scientific and educational talent, transportation location, and ecological resources. Coupled with its thriving industrial ecosystem, it undoubtedly provides fertile ground for cooperation between the two parties. Autoliv will leverage its strong production and R&D capabilities in the field of automotive safety products to deepen its ties with Wuhan, creating a powerful radiating effect to actively promote the further optimization and upgrading of Hubei's automotive industry chain.
