Great Wall's New Tank 400 Unveiled: Adds Hi4-Z Power, Supports Advanced Driver Assistance
The all-new Tank 400 was officially unveiled on September 22. As a mid-to-large SUV under the Tank brand, the new vehicle features significant upgrades in exterior design, intelligent configuration, and power systems. It will be available in two power versions, Hi4-T and Hi4-Z, further enriching consumer choices.

The new car continues the mecha style of the current model, with adjustments made to the front bumper design, changing the originally upward contour to straight lines, and adding black grid decorative elements. The size of the fog lights has also been increased. In addition, the new car is expected to offer a brand new purple paint color, further enhancing its visual impact.

The overall shape of the car's side remains unchanged, but the dimensions have been adjusted, measuring 4964/1970/1905 mm in length, width, and height, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2850 mm. Compared to the current model, the length has been shortened by 21 mm, the width has increased by 10 mm, and the height has increased by 5 mm. The new car will be equipped with 18-inch wheels and will offer both highway tires and all-terrain tires to meet the needs of different users.

At the rear, the new Tank 400 has removed the external spare tire cover and optimized the shape of the rear bumper. The tail badge has been updated to include the "GWM" lettering, giving it a simpler and more rugged overall style. The new vehicle also has towing qualifications, with a maximum towing capacity of 2500 kg when equipped with brakes, and 750 kg without brakes.

In terms of interior, the new car is expected to adopt a (shift-by-wire) gearshift mechanism and adjust the division of the secondary instrument panel. Regarding intelligent driving, the new Tank 400 is equipped with a top-mounted lidar, likely using Hesai ATX lidar, and will add side and rearview cameras. It is expected to feature the same Coffee Pilot Ultra assisted driving system as the new Tank 500, and the tail light position will also include an auxiliary driving "blue light" indicator function.

In terms of power, the Hi4-Z version is equipped with the same 2.0T engine and a hybrid system composed of P2 and P4 dual motors as the Tank 500 Hi4-Z, paired with a 3-speed DHT transmission. The engine has a maximum power of 185 kW and a peak torque of 380 Nm, while the dual motors have maximum powers of 215 kW and 240 kW, respectively. It is equipped with a 59.05 kWh battery pack, offering a pure electric range of 200 kilometers under CLTC conditions, with a fuel consumption of 8.3 liters per 100 kilometers when the battery is depleted. The Hi4-T version continues to use the current 2.0T engine combined with a single motor, with a maximum power of 185 kW and a motor power of 120 kW, paired with a 37.1 kWh battery. It has a pure electric range of 105 kilometers and a fuel consumption of 8.4 liters per 100 kilometers when the battery is depleted.
