Envalior Unveils Climate Transition Plan, Commits to 35% Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction by 2030
Zhuansu Shijie has learned that Envalior, a global engineering materials manufacturer, recently released its first sustainability report, covering the period from January to December 2024. This voluntarily published report includes a double materiality assessment and represents an important step for the company towards compliance with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).
Envalior, headquartered in Düsseldorf, Germany, provides material support for manufacturers in the fields of mobile mobility, electronics, and consumer goods. According to the company, it ranks among the top two globally in PA6 (polyamide 6) injection molding and extrusion grades, and among the top three worldwide in high-temperature polyamides and thermoplastic copolyesters.
"As a global leader and highly innovative company in the field of sustainable high-performance engineering materials, Envalior is committed to setting new standards for the industry and leading change," said Envalior CEO Calum MacLean.
The company's sustainability strategy is centered around the three pillars of the "Envalior CARES" strategic framework: Low Carbon, Sustainable Resources, and Social Responsibility. This framework ensures the integration of sustainability concepts into the decision-making processes at all levels of the enterprise.
According to Envalior, the core content of the report is its climate transition plan — aiming to further reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 35% by 2030 based on the 2024 baseline. Between 2016 and 2024, Envalior's predecessor company had already achieved a 65% reduction in emissions.
12 Key Actions
The plan outlines 12 key actions, including: achieving 100% renewable electricity use at all production sites by 2030; implementing low-carbon heating projects; adopting electric steam generation systems; and continuously promoting the ISO 50001 energy management system and ISO 14001 environmental management system. In addition, the company also plans to strengthen collaboration with value chain partners to address Scope 3 emissions.
"By concentrating resources, reducing emissions, and incorporating sustainable materials into our product portfolio, we are using mature technologies and robust processes to create tangible impacts," MacLean added.
In addition to climate-related initiatives, the report also details Envalior's global health and safety program, its participation in the "Operation Clean Sweep" to prevent plastic pellet leakage, and its commitment to providing bio-based and recycled-based alternative materials for the entire product portfolio by 2030. The company has also implemented a global human rights policy and a diversity policy covering its operations and value chain.
Envalior continues to participate in the United Nations Global Compact initiative and collaborates with multiple industry associations, including the Advanced Packaging Association, PlasticsEurope, econsense – Forum for Sustainable Development of German Business, essenscia – the Belgian Federation for Chemistry and Life Sciences Industries, the Royal Association of the Dutch Chemical Industry, and the European Chemical Industry Council.
As manufacturers face increasingly complex regulatory requirements, Envalior aims to enhance industry transparency through detailed insights into its sustainability strategy and provide clear guidance to its clients.
Envalior makes its debut at K Show
From October 8 to 15, at the K Show in Düsseldorf, Germany, visitors will have the opportunity to see Envalior's sustainable material solutions and discuss the company's sustainable material development strategies with experts.
