In Chengdu, a city with a thousand years of history by the banks of the Dujiangyan, Great Wall Motors launched the revamped Tank 500. At the event, Wei Jianjun, Chairman of Great Wall Motors, stated that the company has always focused on users in its car manufacturing, and the next goal is to bring value to users worldwide.

On August 27, Great Wall Motors officially launched the new Tank 500 Hi4-T, Hi4-Z, and 3.0T Zaojing editions. As a facelift model, the new vehicles feature minor adjustments to exterior details, upgraded interior configurations, and maintain the same powertrain as the current models. A total of four variants are available, with prices ranging from 335,000 to 375,000 yuan.

The Tank 500 is poised to reshape the landscape of the mid-to-large hardcore SUV market with its exceptional off-road capabilities, luxurious interior configuration, and advanced intelligent technology. The Tank 500, which has been launched, offers 3.0T fuel, Hi4-T, and Hi4-Z versions to meet the diverse needs of different consumers.

The new car continues the brand's robust off-road style, with a body design that is bold and fluid. The front features a "mountain river waterfall" chrome grille, with horizontal chrome accents that highlight its sense of power. The central tank logo incorporates a built-in millimeter-wave radar. The LED matrix headlights integrate adaptive high and low beam functions and a delay-off feature. The daytime running lights are integrated within the headlights, giving them a more spirited appearance. Especially with the Dunhuang Green paint, the car's robust quality is unmistakably revealed.

The side profile and rear design of the vehicle basically maintain the classic style of the current model. In terms of dimensions, the length, width, and height are 5078/1934/1905 millimeters respectively, with a wheelbase of 2850 millimeters. The wide body creates a spacious and comfortable interior environment. Signature elements such as the vertical LED light strips and the externally mounted spare tire remain consistent with the current model. In terms of details, the rear badge has been adjusted to "GWMTANK" to align with Great Wall Motors' global strategy.

The interior of the updated Tank 500 continues to create a luxurious and comfortable driving atmosphere, equipped with a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument panel and a 15.6-inch 2.5K floating central control screen. It features the Coffee OS 3 car system, integrated with the CoffeeGPT large model, supporting convenient functions such as "what you see is what you can say," multi-intent in one speech, and four-zone voice interaction. It also offers seamless connectivity between mobile phones and the car system through CoffeeLink, covering 95% of domestic mobile phone models. Additionally, configurations like the HUD head-up display and streaming interior rearview mirror further enhance driving convenience and safety.

In terms of comfort, the new model comes standard with NAPPA genuine leather seats across all trims. The driver's seat features 8-way electric adjustment along with ventilation, heating, and massage functions. The front passenger seat is equipped with a "boss key," while the second-row seats also support heating, ventilation, and aviation headrests, providing passengers with a comfortable riding experience. The interior uses a large amount of soft materials and exquisite stitching craftsmanship to enhance the quality feel. The central armrest area is newly equipped with a 5.4-liter cooling and warming refrigerator, utilizing a 50-watt independent compression cooling system, with a temperature adjustment range from -6°C to 50°C, meeting consumers' needs for both cooling and warming during travel.

The highlight of the Tank 500's latest upgrade is its increasingly comprehensive intelligent configuration. The new vehicle is equipped with Great Wall's third-generation driver assistance system, Coffee Pilot Ultra. The roof is fitted with Hesai ATX LiDAR, and side-view cameras have been added on the sides, enabling all-around perception of road conditions. It supports intelligent driving functions such as urban NOA and highway NOA, achieving full-link intelligent assisted driving from parking space to parking space, easily handling complex road conditions and reducing driving stress.

Although the fuel-powered and Hi4-T base models are not equipped with LiDAR, they still offer practical driving assistance features such as automatic parking and reverse tracking. The rear row is equipped with a 17.3-inch 3K ceiling-mounted screen and features Coffee Air Touch gesture interaction technology, allowing rear passengers to easily control the screen with gestures for added enjoyment. Additionally, the car is fitted with rear sunshades, a rear armrest screen, and a 12+2 speaker Coffee AI Sound audio system, comprehensively enhancing in-car comfort and entertainment experience.

The Tank 500 is equipped with a hybrid system consisting of a 2.0T engine and an electric motor. The Hi4-T plug-in hybrid system uses a P2 motor architecture, offering a pure electric range of up to 110 km and a combined range of over 700 km. It supports a 3.3kW external discharge function, balancing power with energy efficiency and environmental protection, making it suitable for urban commuting and suburban travel. The transmission system uses a 9-speed automatic/manual gearbox. The Hi4-Z plug-in hybrid system employs a P2+P4 dual motor architecture, with a WLTC pure electric range of 201 km and a combined range of 1096 km. It supports 800V high-voltage fast charging, allowing for a 120 km range recharge in 15 minutes. The efficient power and long-range capabilities meet the needs of long-distance travel, paired with a 3-speed DHT hybrid transmission.

As a hardcore off-road SUV, the Tank 500's off-road capabilities are formidable. Its body-on-frame construction paired with front double wishbone and rear solid axle suspension provides a solid foundation for off-roading. The second-generation intelligent all-terrain system supports 7 mode switches. It comes standard with center and rear differential locks, with an optional front differential lock. With all three locks, 100% torque lockup can be achieved, effectively handling extreme off-road conditions. The approach angle is 29.6°, the departure angle is 24°, the breakover angle is 22°, the minimum ground clearance is 224mm, and the wading depth is 800mm. Coupled with off-road features such as Crawl Control Off-road (CCO), Tank Turn Assist (TAB), and transparent chassis mode, drivers can easily conquer various complex terrains.

The launch of the all-new Tank 500 marks another breakthrough for Great Wall Motors in the hardcore off-road segment. With its comprehensively upgraded product strength, it is expected to stand out in the fiercely competitive mid-to-large hardcore SUV market, becoming an ideal choice for both off-road adventures and daily driving.
