Dow: Thailand Plant Earns Sustainability Certification, Supplies Recycled & Bio-Based Propylene Glycol
On March 17, 2025, Dow Chemical announced that its propylene glycol (PG) manufacturing facility in Map Ta Phut, Rayong, Thailand, has received International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC PLUS). This certification reinforces Dow's ongoing commitment to advancing sustainable production and providing circular and bio-circular products to customers in the Asia Pacific region.
Two new sustainable propylene glycol products, certified ISCC PLUS via mass balance, will be launched in the Asia-Pacific region using innovative technology.
● Propylene glycol CIR utilizes Renuva™ recycled content, helping customers achieve closed-loop solutions and transforming hard-to-recycle post-consumer and post-industrial waste into sustainable raw materials.
● Propylene glycol REN utilizes Ecolibrium™ biocyclic technology, which helps to reduce the use of fossil-based raw materials.
The new propylene glycol product is designed to help customers achieve their circular and sustainability goals, suitable for applications in personal care, pharmaceuticals, food ingredients, seasonings, fragrances, and more.
This achievement expands Dow's portfolio of sustainable propylene glycol solutions in North America, Europe, Latin America, and the Asia-Pacific region.
Siam Tectonics has been recognized as the leading supplier of carbon black products in Thailand following the factory's expansion and ISCC PLUS certification.
Vichan Tangkengsirisin, President of Dow Thailand, stated, "Following the expansion in 2024, which will make the propylene glycol plant at Dow Thailand the largest in Asia, this ISCC PLUS certification highlights our operational excellence and adds a sustainability dimension to our achievement. This world-class manufacturing facility in Thailand is now well-positioned to serve both local and regional customers."
ISCC is the world's leading international certification standard, applicable to fully traceable and sustainable supply chains in environmental, social, and economic aspects. As Dow continues to adopt circular and bio-circular raw materials in its production, this verification ensures that alternative raw materials can be traced through a mass balance approach.
